Okay folks,
For our new house, we have decided to do a dog wash station. The rough in plumbing is going to be in the garage and ties in with our laundry room plumbing. I am so excited to have this option for not only bathing my dogs and cleaning muddy paws that isn't my own bathrub, but having a place to wash off dirty boots, and other things.
I have been looking around online and I have seen a wide variety of pricing for the stainless steel grooming tubs and I need some help. I am not a professional groomer so I don't need a $3,000 tub! I have seen some for around $500 but I am concerned about how thickness of the steel and how durable it will be. My dogs only weight about 25 pounds each so heavy duty isn't a must either.
There were a couple of options I have seen. I want something that will last, but will also be cost effective. I would prefer something elevated, but I could live something lower and then using a stool.
This is actually a mop sink. The sink itself is about $800 (there are less expensive ones out there) and then you have all the plumbing, the structure built underneath to support all 300+ pounds of the sink and then all the tile work. I think it would totally work, but the cost of the lumber, tile + materials, and labor to pull it all together would make the overall cost go up.
Buying a shower base. But the space we will have is going to be free-standing so half walls would have to be built around it and then you have the tile + materials and labor involved. It would probably be less expensive than the mop sink set up.
Here are two more options. The one I don't want is the cheap white plastic laundry tub. Would it work? I think so. But my dogs are wiggly and safety is a concern. The stainless steel idea is great, but I don't need the fancy ramp or stairs. I have a set of doggy stairs that would help the dogs get up and down. This tub is a $4,000 tub. Ouch!!
Anyone have any thoughts?
