Halloween Safety

We want to keep you and your dog happy and safe this Halloween. Here are a few tips that will help.

-       Remember, no candy for dogs!  Instead, bring along their own special treats when you go out this evening. If you are staying home and handing out candy, keep a basket of dog-friendly treats handy too just in case you get a few 4-legged trick-or-treaters!

-       Make sure to wear reflective clothing and put something on your pooch that will reflect too, like a collar, leash or bright bandana.

-       Be mindful of the temps outside so your pup isn’t out too long in the cool weather and make sure to check their paws when you are all done, just to make sure they didn’t pick up any stones or other material that could hurt them.

-       If your pet is not very social, it’s best to just leave them at home. With all the buzzing cars and busy streets full of children and adults, it can be very scary for some dogs. Don’t stress them out, what is fun for you may be too stressful for them.

-       When you are handing out candy, be sure your pets are safe and won’t dart out the door unexpectedly. It’s wise to keep all pets inside on Halloween night, never let them out unattended.

Have a very happy and safe Halloween!
