Hi everyone. I am new to the site. My little tea cup Yorkie, who just turned 10, started coughing up a storm about six weeks ago. My regular vet first said it sounded like kennel cough. But the cough continued and never stopped. After treating her with several meds, he sent us to a specialist. She took her x-rays and thank god it was not tracheal collapse (common in small breed Yorkies) but more to do with air passages in lungs not getting enough air. My poor little friend is on like five medications. It is helping somewhat and as long as she is resting she has no coughing fits. Strangely she doesn't cough when she goes on her short walks. One of the meds she has been prescribed is Flovent. I am praying it will stop her coughing to a point where we can both get a good nite's sleep. I noticed several people on this site had mentioned using Flovent for their dogs who have respiratory problems (bronchitis, etc). My vet told me to order the drug on-line from Canada. It was about $70 or so for two months inhaler. The price in the US was outrageous. I used a pharmacy called mountaindrugsonline. Try it for yourself and hopefully you can save quite a bit on this med. The savings are substantial. Just wanted to share and please keep my little one in your thoughts that her cough is all gone as soon as possible. Cheers.
