• collie/golden mix smilee1079 Posted : 4/11/2007 10:26:03 AM We brush Jake, our collie/golden retriever mix daily.  He is shedding clumps like crazy.  Any suggestions on ways to cut down on the shedding?   Does the furminator really work?  What does it do? • nGoldenm Posted : 4/11/2007 2:39:35 PM Max was shedding like crazy as well not to long ago. I took him to the groomer to get a bath and she brushed out all the undercoat for me. He no longer sheds as bad. He was just blowing his winter coat. I also tried the furminator that I borrowed from one of my friends. It seemed to work very well in the short time that I used it. • jennie_c_d Posted : 4/11/2007 5:20:58 PM I don't love the furminator on that type of coat. I like the Zoom Groom, better, for them. Your best bet is to take him to the groomer, and ask them to force dry him all the way through, and brush him out really well. Between the force drying and the brushing, it should take care of him for a while. Another nice tool for double coats is a Coat King.
