Anyone have experience using Oravet for teeth? (tacran)

In the report the vet gave us last week after Ruby's dental cleaning and tooth removal, they advised that we brush her teeth as regularly as possible and that we use Oravet to prevent plaque build-up (they applied some during her procedure).

We've tried brushing her teeth -- an impossible task because she is the wiggliest, most uncooperative "patient."  I'm going to try it again and stick with it longer to see if she'll do more than just bite the heck out of the toothbrush.  Tongue Tied

Of course, the vet can sell us the Oravet.  I'm guessing I can find it on Amazon or maybe even a pet store for less money.  But I'm not even sure it's worth using.  Again, with a wiggly patient, how much am I going to successfully get on her teeth?  And is it really effective anyway?

Thought I'd ask if anyone has used it, what your thoughts are, and/or if you've got other suggestions for preventative dental care.   Thanks for any input!

Hi my aunts dog is the same way, her dog hates the tooth brush. So I suggested dental wipes, you just wipe the teeth with a pad that is pre-soaked in a cleaner. Since you already had the dental work done this would just be an up keep. It was easier to just wipe the teeth than try to use a brush. Here is a link of what we have, my aunt liked the Nylabone one the best. Good luck.

I've never tried it so can't say if it would help or not.  I've heard some people say it did and others, not so much.  My dogs have pretty good teeth (knock on wood) and none have needed a dental and I don't brush their teeth.  Bad dog owner, yep. lol  My vet told me that some dogs do better if you use your finger with some gauze wrapped around it or they sell little rubbery caps that fit over your finger.  Maybe Ruby would tolerate that better and wouldn't chomp down on your finger. I always have good intentions after the vet tells me I should be brushing their teeth but somehow I still don't do it.  :(
