    Swollen Toe **Pic

    IMG_0126.JPG

    Hi,

I came home to my dog not putting any pressure on her front left paw. I have pulled the toes apart best I can and have found nothing inbetween the toes in the terms of cuts, bites. It is winter and the snow has fallen so bites can be ruled out.

It doesn't seem to cause any pain as she can still get around fine on three paws, even jumps onto the bed, but then again she is one of the toughest little dogs I have ever seen. She just won't put any weight on it.

I have attached a picture of the toe. Unfortunately she is a great squirmer so it is not the best.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer

Looks very red and maybe swollen.  But it's hard to tell from a picture.  I'd see how it looks on Monday.  If it's not better, take her to the vet.  It is causing her pain or she'd be walking on all four feet.  :)

I agree with Jackie; if it wasn't painful she would be using the foot normally.  Watch for pus oozing from the base of the nail; that means an infected toe; my dog has had them before. If it's not better Monday, she should see a vet. Let us know how she does.

Managed to see the vet today. She got some antibiotics and a painkiller. Not sure if it is the painkiller, but she is putting weight on the foot. Xrays showed nothing in the toe. Can't believe it cost $300 for the vet, ah well.

Did you see an emergency vet? That's more expensive than seeing your regular vet, and of course x-rays are expensive too. I'm glad she's doing better. Sounds like you take great care of her.
