    dog washing

does anyone find it difficult to wash their dog?

No, because I have the proper facility to bath my dogs...when I do bath them.  I have never bathed my Rottie or Dobe...the only ones that get a bath are the Newf's as it's easier to get all that undercoat out.

My Sister owns a grooming shop so we have a proper set up.  It would be very difficult if we had to bath them at home.

Do you have any self service bathing units around your area? they are becoming quite popular with many dog grooming shops to rent out their bath tub to people to use.[:D]

Since I have chihuahuas, I'd have to say no :)

WHen I lived at home I found it hard to bathe my Mom's shih tzu in the bathtub after I left the grooming practice and couldn't just take her to work with me.  Mainly it was hard on my back (she was too big to fit in the kitchen sink which was higher up).

It's a pain to bend over the tub, at home, but otherwise, no.

I'm installing a utility sink, here soon, and I won't have to bend, anymore.

No, I bathe my little Shih Tzu in the kitchen sink. I use the sprayer.

I do the same with my dog. She likes it a whole lot better than when she was in the bath tub

    Sally and Aina,
how heavy are your doggies?  My Zoe is about 12 lbs, but I have never tried washing her in the kitchen sink, even though I have a sprayer.  I am scared that when she will "shake" off the water it will get my nice cabinet and windows all wet!

I just might give it a try today anyways,  it sure will be easier on my back!

My kids take them in the shower with them, so no I have no problem[;)]

I bought a shower attachment for the guest bathroom for my dog.  It has a nozzle that comes off so you can move the showerhead around.  It has really helped with baths.  Before I had to keep him in the bathtub while I used a bucket to pour water over him, which was challenging at times.  Now I can keep a stream of water on him all the time and he is less squirmy and doesn't try to escape.  He just seems to like it better.  In fact last time he hopped into the bathtub on his own!  Much better than having to pick up an unhappy 50 lb. dog and put him in the tub!

The bath tub works great for my two. If one gets a bath the other one thinks they need a bath too!

My tub is really deep and low, so it nearly kills my back when I bathe them but I don't have any other choice but to us that tub as it's the only one in the house. Besides that though, it's easy. They all stand nicely, or sit, or lay down depending on what I ask of them. They turn when I tell them, so that I can wash the other side, etc. Tango's so relaxed in the bath, she nearly falls asleep every time.

Bonnie: Maggie is 15 lbs. She does shake some, though it is greatly reduced when you save her face until last. I normally have a few towls ready to dry everything off after I am done with her.

Trudy weighs 12 1/2 pounds. She doesn't shake really. I wash, condition, then have towels for her so I wrap her up quickly. If she shake a bit, I just wipe the water off. I cannot do the bathtub thing. Hard on the back.

I do wash her feet in a few inches of water in my tub after each walk, but that doesn't take long.

Well, I gave  Zoe a bath in the kitchen sink a couple of days ago, and, it seems to be a bit small.  Maybe she is longer than your dogs.  It definetly was easier on the back tho!

I just may have to get used to it, and then it will be ok.  She didn't seem to know what to do, as she's never been in the kitchen  sink before!

      I will try it again.
