I trimmed Harley short and he started acting like a puppy.  He was happy and zippy around the house!

Duke does this too.  Same with after taking a bath.

Max is short haired, so he doesn't need grooming.  Our previous dog was a lab/cocker X and when he got a haircut he was like a whole different dog. He actually strutted when he walked.[:D] It was like he knew he looked good and he was thinking "Man, I am HOT!" It was pretty funny to watch him.

When I was little we had a golden named Sam and one time my parents took him to get a hair cut and they cut it short...I mean as short as it gets. Sam seemed embarassed! He would hold his head down when we'd take him out and everything. It was pretty cute but ya had to feel bad for him. We didn't cut it short again.

I haven't tried it with Roxie yet, but I'm curious to see how she reacts.

When people laugh at their dogs after their hair cuts, they always get embarassed. Some dogs act that way, anyways, but when owners laugh, it makes it so much worse....

Emma doesn't really act any different after her hair cut. She is always happy to be off of the table, but otherwise, she acts pretty normal. Toby, my mom's dog, acts like a total goofball. He gets the "look at me" walk[;)]

Well, Willow's is almost all grown back now except the mane is still coming in.  And, she did act different all summer, mischievious, tossing toys, eating like crazy, zooming around. . .all after the cut.

I always tell April how pretty she looks even at the grooming place when she first comes out.  She loves it and is always so glad to see me, and yes she struts about for quite a few days.

That really makes me mad when people laugh at their dogs or say how ugly they are after a haircut.  You can just watch the dog go from happy and feeling good to embarrassed and sad.  We took Duke to a different groomer a couple of months ago and they did a HORRIBLE job.  When we saw him all I could think was how could they possible make Duke ugly??  But I put on a huge smile and got really excited and told him how beautiful he was.  He was really embarrassed, but after some cooing and awing from me he perked up.  Poor little guy.  I went and put him in the car then went back in to complain to the groomer.

Do you think they can really tell whether they've gotten a *good* cut or a *bad* one?  Or are they just reacting to what they sense our feelings about it are?

Dugan acts very tired after he gets his haircut. No, he is not sedated! I quess it's hard work getting beautiful at the Beauty Shop all day. He acts goofy even after I brush him which is every day. He rolls around on the floor and makes his pirate sound ARGHHH. Then he jumps on his chair or sofa and rubs his face. What a silly boy. Little Maddie has not been to a professional groomer for a complete haircut yet, so I don't know how she will behave. I bet she will be very vain and strut her stuff.

I think that they mostly react to what they sense our feelings our.  They are probably a little self conscious because it feels so bare... or funny.

I don't give Jake haircuts (Aussies aren't supposed to have their fur cut), but once I trimmed down his "fanny hair" to give poop a clear passage and OMG, you'd think air had never reached his tushy before. The second I let Jake go, he zoomed around the yard like a madman, and if I called to him, he'd run at me at a mad dash before veering to the side and taking another run around the yard. It was hilarious, and I'm looking forward to trimming his fanny again (it's almost time for it, lol) just so I can see that again.

Fergie (my Yorkie) hates baths, but when I give her a haircut, she absolutely struts!
Sioux is an Aussie mix (in my avatar), so no haircut, but she is very proud of herself when her coat is all brushed out and she's gleaming, with her polished nails and bows.

I have a little cockapoo that is a totally different dog after she goes to the groomer.  She looks so cute and she knows it!!  She is 8 and when she gets done she is like a puppy again.
