• Julitza Posted : 8/22/2006 11:06:06 AM I'd get to the vet just to make sure he/she doesnt have a cronic ear infection. Cockers are notorious for ear infections. The vet can give you some pluids to get all the gunk out if its not an infection.   Ears are a very delicate thing and you shouldnt put anything in them unless prescribed.   Until then just make sure you clean the ears with a moist cotton ball, then a dry one and repeat daily if necessary.   Ive also been told that a poor diet can contribute to those smells. He told me that due to there floppy and furry ears, a lot of moisture gets caught in the ear and makes them really dirty and stinky. • starsenchis Posted : 8/25/2006 4:33:33 AM When you clean the ears, pour in the ear cleaner- get about a Tablespoon full into the ear canal and massage it so you can hear a squishy sound for about a minute.  Then let him shake the gunk out and wipe out the gunk you can see. This is how the vet taught me when I was a vet tech, and also how he showed all of his clients how to really clean ears.  It's perfectly safe- the cleaner has a quick dry agent in it, so it's not like water in the ears.
