I'd get to the vet just to make sure he/she doesnt have a cronic ear infection. Cockers are notorious for ear infections. The vet can give you some pluids to get all the gunk out if its not an infection.

Ears are a very delicate thing and you shouldnt put anything in them unless prescribed.

Until then just make sure you clean the ears with a moist cotton ball, then a dry one and repeat daily if necessary.

Ive also been told that a poor diet can contribute to those smells. WHat are you feeding?

She just had a check-up less than a month ago and i asked about her ears, thinking she may have an infection. He told me that due to there floppy and furry ears, a lot of moisture gets caught in the ear and makes them really dirty and stinky. He told me to clean them 2-3 times a week (which i do). it isn't an ear infection, but they still stink.

-i feed eagle pack and occasionally authority mixed with it, i don't think it's the diet beacuse i know both of these brands are good quality[sm=wink2.gif]!

When you clean the ears, pour in the ear cleaner- get about a Tablespoon full into the ear canal and massage it so you can hear a squishy sound for about a minute.  Then let him shake the gunk out and wipe out the gunk you can see.

This is how the vet taught me when I was a vet tech, and also how he showed all of his clients how to really clean ears.  It's perfectly safe- the cleaner has a quick dry agent in it, so it's not like water in the ears.

If you did this daily or every other day, you'd probably have the world's first non-stinky-eared cocker!

Cocker ears are definately a problem with their heavy floppiness.  I would use ear cleaner (liberally) in the ears daily, followed by some ear powder to help with the moisture.

I have heard of using a soft hair scrunchie to hold the ears back for 10-15 min a day to help get air in there. Perhaps a good idea for after cleaning.

my doctor prescribed Oticlens. It works great for Vash's ears. You can buy it on line at pet meds website. you gotta squirt it in his ear.. smush it around until it sounds squishy and then clean inside of the dog's ear with a cotton pad..

Sounds liek a good idea, but she would definally not go for that! she would be pawing off that scruchie as soon as i got it on her!|

-thanks for the replies everyone... but what kind of cleaner do you suggest?
