No - in fact I don't "free feed" at all -- it's dangerous (whether you have one or more than one dog) simply because you can never tell then when your dog is "off their food". You don't know readily if they are sick (i.e, avoiding food) or not. It's difficult enough to tell when you just put a small amount of food in the bowl and wait til they eat it -- but with an actual auto-feeder you have no idea at all WHEN nor IF they have eaten.
Besides -- it's too easy for it to call bugs, etc. or draw moisture. Even if you pull a bag or box of something off the shelf to snack on -- you don't leave it around exposed to the air for days before you eat it?? I wouldn't want to do that to my dog either. Sorry -- just not a good idea IMO under most circumstances. It may sound handy but the trade-off is pretty significant.
