    Nose Growth and honking cough

Hello all, I just found this site. Our sweet baby Charlotte was just diagnosed with a nose growth (the doc just found) and maybe a collapsed trachea. She is 10 and not terribly old. We are going to see a specialist on Wed which is a lifetime away. Does anyone have any positive stories about these conditions?

Welcome to the forum; your pup is so cute!! Jessie will be 14 in October. When she was 10, she developed a honking cough. It turned out to be partly caused by laryngeal paralysis, and partly caused by chronic bronchitis. She has been on a metered dose inhaler called Flovent, which controls the bronchitis, and the cough has decreased significantly. I'll keep you in my thoughts and hope for good news when you see the specialist.

My RB Sugar had a polyp in her nasal passage -- is that what you mean by a nose growth?

A "nose growth" can be a bunch of different things -- did the vet biopsy it?

A collapsed trachea -- that doesn't have to be horrible.  It will make them cough, yes -- but you can usually manage it quite well.  Raise her feeding dish and her water bowl -- and in her crate you may want to put up a rabbit lick bottle for water dispensing -- so she doesn't have to tip her head down.

We have not had it biopsied yet, our normal vet said we needed to take her to specialist which is tomorrow so hopefully they will biopsy it tomorrow. We would not have found it if it werent for the cough which i guess is a small blessing. Its just the torture of waiting until tomorrow and of course doing all the research on the net that you can do.

Thank you! I just cannot wait to know exactly what is going on. The thought of her suffering is just too much

Biopsy results also take some time to come through.  At least when Sugar was at the specialist, that was the case.  Paws crossed, let us know when you learn more.

Ahh i didnt even think of that. I am usually an intelligent person who used to Work in a cancer center and that thought did not even register

Hello All, Yesterday we took Charlotte to the vet and we were so proud of her of course she was scared when we got there but she was brave like the good little girl we know she is. We did get great news, the doc looked at the polyp and did not think it was a cause of concern, but she is going to do a biopsy next week ( we were hoping it would have been done yesterday) Overall it was such a relief, the doc took an xray, the throat is not collapsing at all (Thank God) her heart is normal! Over all our baby is healthy and we know that biopsy will come back fine!!! Thank you all for your support, kind words, and prayers!

Does the specialist think the polyp is also responsible for the honking?

My Sugar had a polyp in the nasal passage, on the bottom of the upper curve - in a place where they could not easily reach it to remove it.  So they did a "flush", and irrigation treatment, putting water through to break off bits and pieces.  I always wished hers had been in a location where they could get the roots out, as it came back time after time.

She thinks the honking could be related, the cough may be an infection she is going to keep her on antibiotics for another 2 weeks and the cough will be gone. I am so sure that the polyp will be benign its just a formality

That's awesome!!!!  I'm so glad she didn't have a collapsing trachea.

My vet tried antibiotics for Jessie but it didn't help the cough; that's when more diagnostics were done and we learned she had laryngeal paralysis and chronic bronchitis. I hope the antibiotics clear up your girl's cough.

Thank you! I am so grateful. Its the worst when your babies are sick and they cant speak to say whats wrong. I know the biopsy will come back with the results we are praying for
