Charlie's eye surgery -- he's home (Callie)

I've been following Charlie's story and am sooo glad to hear he's progressing well!  I do have one little question pertaining to your earlier post (sorry, don't know how to do the little box-y thing that you all do when quoting people): 

"They've reduced several things -- he is on oral pred wean off -- a slow wean-off which suits me fine (I've got LOTS of milk thistle!! -- those of you who know me are saying "Yeah, I just bet she does!)."

My question ...Is there anyone on here who doesn't know you Callie????

For every one person who posts, there are probably 15 or more lurkers -- some of them are actually regulars - they just never say much.  But many of them zoom in searching for a word about something ... and no, they don't know me.  so I gotta get on my soapbox about milk thistle.

I know I knokw -- I've really gotta get over this shyness problem I have ... being able to talk to people I don't know.  And yeah -- I really gotta work on saying what I REALLY mean -- like .... get emphatic about something once in a while?  Really state MY opinion?

PS -- I did take Tink and Charlie to Dr. Demers.  He did homotox on him RAH!!  (they take one drop of the patient's blood and mix that with injectible homeopathic remedies and inject it directly into acupuncture "points".  Tonight it was Traumeel to relieve inflammation, lymphomyosot to encourage drainage and apis to reduce the edema/swelling in the eye. 

He also sent me hom with 7 syringes with a similar mixture -- I can't do the 'homotox' (drawing the blood, etc. -- that's a trained vet thing), but he's just going to have me to that blend of remedies once every other day sub-cutaneously for 2 weeks. 

Tink can be prone to allergies, so about every 3 months Dr. Demers gives her a homotox treatment for allergies.  It keeps her allergy stuff about 99% under control

He got quite a chuckle (and some in-depth commmiseration) out fo them drawing blood Friday SPECIFICALLY to make sure I wasn't feeding him lethal doses of McDonalds burgers and fries.  *rolling my eyes* -- My husband still says we should frame those blood results.

You can say that again. 

He is one of Tink's favorite people -- he genuinely LIKES dogs and always takes time to play a bit and GIVE TREATS (whatever I bring, he will give to them) -- he's a popular guy.

He was one of those people who, for years, I always WISHED I could meet.  He has always had a huge reputation in the Florida area for "THE BEST" homeopathic vet in the Eastern US.  It floored me when I found out Dr. DiNatale knew him and had been consulting him on Billy's case when Billy was being treated for IMHA.  And then wow -- all of a sudden she convinced him to come out of retirement and use her office on Friday and one evening when she wasn't there JUST so people could get his help. 

Has been a ginormous blessing to me and all my dogs.

That's too cool! I wish he was closer! Fluffy is on allergy immunotherapy injections, monthly. They've helped, a TON, and she's pretty under control. Whole different idea, though.

s'me, Tink ... trust me, the boy is gonna be POSTING HISSELF soon!!  Given that Mom keeps the keyboard thinamy ... what's she say Luner?  4 1/2 feets away?  It's longer'n you from here to where the words are.  Mom sez she's just gonna get Charlie boy Readers (whateve THEY is) but Me 'n Luner 'r already teachin him ta read stuff.  (He doesn't like all Ma's romances she leaves in the bedroom tho -- he sez UGH)

 Anywaz -- Charlie's got it figgered that if you sniff yur toy, jus scoop it up wif tha cone and toss it a bit 'n you kin catch it.  He don't do it much cos tha Con is heav=EE

Glad to hear Charlie is doing good, he has a good mom.  Keep it up.

Charlie had a good eye vet visit this morning -- more reductions in eye drops -- apparently he'll be on pred drops for months *and* likely he'll be on the 'salt ointment" (yes, it's NA CL -- to bring the moisture clouding the surface of the eye in response to the edema in that eye to the surface).  But the pred drops are reduced now to three times a day.  The third drop we just have to finish the bottle and that's done.

For Charlie the BEST news is we can start "weaning him off" the cone.  Meaning we need to be able to watch him while it's off, but I'm going to leave the cone on when we're gone during the day for a while.  He's dealt with it really well -- but left to his own devices he will paw at his eyes after he gets drops, and I can be hard-hearted enough to make him wear the cone at high risk times.  The risk of him putting a nail in that eye is WAY too great after all he's gone thru to get them healed.

However, I'm going to try to get him a new ball on my way home -- since I can take the cone off when he goes outside if I'm with him -- I wanna let the boy play BALL!!! I'm betting he's going to be over the moon about that.

It's really cool - when you call his name, he doesn't just turn his head to you -- he makes EYE CONTACT.  That's a really good feeling. 

 He LOVES his crate but we've been leaving him out of the crate while he as the cone on and he's been "telling" us he wants IN HIS CRATE!  He races to the door when Tink goes in.  Poor little guy -- the way this particular crate is fashioned he could really get it caught in there.
