I have to disagree with those two. Frequent bathing can dry a dog's skin, and, with breeds like Labs that are supposed to have an oily outer coat, it will remove the oil from the coat. Regular, frequent brushing will remove the dead hair, and dirt, too. To keep the PH balance right in the ears, less is best. Sure, keep an eye on them. A little warm water on a cotton ball or wash cloth is all you need to wipe out any dirt you may see, but all you really need to do on a routine basis is check the ears.
