Any suggestions for website or forums for dogs w/ cancer? (tacran)

My mother's friend has a dog who has been treated for a cancerous tumor on her head.  My mother referred to it as "brain cancer."  After a few months of chemo, they recently discovered a couple more tumors near the dog's tail end, so I'm not sure if my mother is mixed up about what kind of cancer it is.  She couldn't remember the exact breed mix -- she's very small, some kind of designer breed, such as Shih Tzu and Pom, and she's less than 2 years old.  Her name is Coco Chanel.

Her friend is very distraught, understandably.  From what my Mom said, she decided to try chemo again, but the plan may change if it appears to be too grueling for her dog.  Mom asked me for ideas on any online forums or websites that her friend might be able to check out, whether it's to find some additional treatment info or just to get moral support from other dog parents who are dealing with canine cancer diagnoses.

Does anyone have suggestions for reputable sites?  I'd appreciate any input -- thank you in advance!

This is likely the most comprehensive, knowledgeable and supportive canine cancer group on the net!  I'm a member there but don't post anymore.  There's some VERY smart folks there!

I know that just recently the FDA approved a new antiangeogenic drug for MCT's that supposedly works very well.  Not sure if it is suitable for this case but might be worth looking into.

Good thoughts and vibes for your moms friends dog!

Thanks, Johnny.  I feel good about passing along that link with such a great endorsement from an experienced and compassionate dog-parent like you!  I'll also share the info about the new drug you mentioned.

YOu're welcome to give her my email if you want -- I'm not a 'website' but I can give her tips like TCVM and help her know about cancer diets, etc.

and milk thistle ... and more milk thistle .... especially if they're doing chemo.  That's how I lost Muffin -- we did chemo, and he had no more cancer, but it killed his kidneys

Callie, thanks so much for your kind offer.  I'll definitely pass it on -- as well as the milk thistle suggestion.  I don't know this woman very well, so I'm not sure how familiar she is with alternative therapies, supplements, etc. -- but my guess is she's open to anything that may help her dog.  Thanks again!

When Shadow was diagnosed (RIP)  I searched and besides the emotional support I received from all of our IDog family and my Vet family, I liked this site.   Shadow went fast and I received the book I ordered after we let him go to the bridge.  I donated the book and literature to my Vet family for future clients to have access to.

Thanks, Ginger.  That looks like a good site.  I'll pass it on.
