Reintroducing regular food after diarrhea

Ribbon (3months) developed diarrhea after taking worm medication. I have had her on a rice and chicken diet since Wed. She has had normal stools 3 days now and I want to get her back on her regular food. She still has a week of meds to go. Should Igradually mix her food with the rice/chicken or should I keep her on the rice for a bit longer? I am heading out of town for 3 days staring Wed and my daughter in law is taking the pup. I don't want Ribbon to have poop problems while I'm gone. What should I do?

I'd leave her on chicken/rice for a couple more days and then very s l o w ly add back in a tiny bit of kibble at a time. If she normally has a cup of kibble, use maybe 1/4 cup in the chicken/rice mixture. Especially with you away, it's worrisome to have diaherra since they can dehydrate so quickly as pups. Better safe than sorry.

If it were my dog, I'd probably just start her back on her normal kibble if her stools have been normal.

Jackie, I would too very likely if she weren't a pup, if I weren't going to be gone and someone else weren't going to be caring for her. I worry about pups more than the adults.
