Toni -- Grade 3 is NOT bad.
ALL OF US have Grade 1 mast cell in our bodies -- it is **NORMAL**. We all have mast cell (all mammals) -- and Grade 2 is the lowest grade of malignancy, so Grade 3 is JUST one step up. Vets never explain that. It's WAY better than Grade 4.
Are you going to do any chemo or anything? There is actually a TON you can do. I would encourage you, specifically, to have him see a TCVM vet ***IN ADDITION*** to whatever your regular vet is doing. The Chinese herbals can greatly augment any other type of care, and they absolutely rock at helping the mast cell not recur and spread. http://www.tcvm.com -- there is a locator on the left. I'm more than willing to help you in any way I can.
Jan's diets are better than anything I have, but I will send you Dr. Clemmon's list of anti-oxidants and herbs (essiac tea is just one of several that can be SUPER helpful).
