Flees? (jm)

    Flees? (jm)

So like I hinted in my other post I think moca has flees. They are not on any prevention because honestly it has never been an issue until now so I didn't see the point. However the other day I found quite a few black spots in her fur. They are close to her skin and "stuck" to her fur but they don't move so I am not sure what it is.. Well, was would be the right word. I shaved her yesterday (it was due anyways) and scrubbed her down a LOT afterwards too! Since I have no experience with this- are those flees? What's the next step? Just get some frontline? (yes we have frontline here now! ;) ) What about Jason? What about the rest of the house? Truly clueless here..... -------- edit: wow, seriously... No paragraphs with the iPad huh.... Ok....

Likely what you're seeing is "flea dirt" -- literally the 'poop' left from the fleas.  There may only be one or two.  Fleas are very fast and it can be tough to find them in the coat.

If you have Frontlie there try it!  Here some of the fleas have gotten resistant to it but hopefully aren't where you are!  Frontline stays in the skin pores & hair follicles -- doesn't go into the bloodstream which is a good thing.

Thanks Callie! I knew I could count on you! Flee poop huh? Yumm... So I should probably treat Jason too then, right?

absolutely - you want both of them to be unattractive to them  --

    Cool.. Thanks a lot, Callie!

So both have been treated with the frontline. I hope that will be that.

However, today I noticed some "bugs" on the soil of my plant (yes, I have ONE plant in the house, lol). They looked like sesame seeds only smaller and were kind of juming around. There were a LOT. Are these the flees just hanging out there? Or is this something completely different? I am kinda freaked out and seriously thinking of just ditching the plant...

What do I do now? Is my house infested or something? Can I get fleas like that? (*shudder*)

    Help! :-(

My guess is you are either seeing some mites or springtails that piggy backed in on the plant soil.

I see. Thanks. Makes me a little less freaked out!!! :P It's just way too humid this summer. Thunderstorms every day since two weeks. All that is just not helping the overall bug issue. Yesterday I even had a small cockroach ON me. ( thankfully not at my house! ) that really didn't help my bug paranoia... *shudder*

Thunderstorms every day since two weeks.

Please send some to us here in Texas!!!  I'll deal with some bugs if we can just get past this drought.  Stick out tongue

You can have them all. I am so SICK of thunderstorms!! I've gotten stuck in town 4 times in the last 2 weeks only getting home around midnight, because I could not find a taxi (main mode of transportation here...). Moca has peed in the house repeatedly because she is too fussy to step on the wet grass. At least she is better now (I won't let her off the lawn until she is done, literally cutting her off, lol)...
