For YEARS I have wanted to stop my dogs from reverse sneezing. It doesn't look right, sound right, feel right in ANY way. Yet all the vets I asked said, "Oh, that's normal."
WRONG! Apparently it's caused by nose mites. (Take time to shudder now.) One of my students told me about her dog being diagnosed with it and I was amazed. If you google it you can get lots of info.
The treatment is ivermectin. I really, really want to divest my dogs of these mites, but before I do I'm going to have to get them tested for the MDR1 gene, the one that make sighthounds and collies and shelties very sensitive to ivermectin.
Anyone else ever treat their dogs for nose mites?
