    Phenobarbital.....health warning

Got this off a friends FB page....not sure exactly how it applies but figured maybe those using it might want to check into it just in case!

"For pet owners who use phenobarbital for seizures for their pets. Please be warned that phenobarbital has been mis-labeled with hydrocondone 10 mg./acetaminophen 500 mg. tablets basically Tylennol which is toxic and deadly to pets. If you suspect, please go to your pharmacist. Pets are dying from this mishap."

    Sounds scarey!

ETA:  I DID NOT check the validity of this claim soooo......

Interesting - when Pirate was on phenobarb, the pills were sooo tiny that there's no way 500mg of anything would have fit in there! 500 mg is an average tylenol size, IIRC, but any dog I've ever met who takes phenobard, doesn't take anywhere close to 500mg. Sounds fishy to me but I'd sure as heck check if I used it!

That's Tylenol 3 for folks who need the name.

It sounds odd to me as well -- but sometimes people just are too trusting.  ALWAYS check a med that looks "different" --

Here's some more info I found.....

Looks to be more of a concern for humans than for dogs.  Suppose it's best to be safe though right.

Thanks for the info, Johnny. Good to keep up on these things--for our humans and our pups!

Thanks for the heads up Johnny.  Gretschen is taking a liquid form now, but this is still good to look out for.  Also, agree with the others that the pills are so small, not sure how this is happening if it is.
