I was WRONG!!!! Doin' the happy dance. Couldn't post last night as it was pretty busy. Took Khoale to the vet, left Callie a msg., went Thanksgiving shopping for food to feed the masses of new employees crashed at my house from all over the country and my car died at Walmart. Well it didn't die but was flashing the engine light and shaking like crazy so I had to get that addressed and couldn't drive it home.
Sooo.... The bloodwork was off in the following ways: High RBC, high white Blood Cells, low liver enzymes (all minimal, not off the charts to make us very concerned). Neg. for lyme or heartworm. They think she is dehydrated, fighting a parasite, and that she had a bad reaction to the Cephalexin that is causing what we're seeing. The sudden lethargy, discomfort, etc. So, currently she's on Pepcid, probiotics, and a wormer. They are going to do thyroid testing if she continues the symptoms. However, I was WRONG about IMHA teehee. The lupus based on the nose is still possible, but they think the nose is improving so we are not testing for that right now.
Did I mention I was wrong? Yep, Khoale is a bit of a drama queen which is why I would never put her through treating a bad illness, however, she's apparently making something minimal seem very dramatic. I did appreciate that they took me seriously, the vet that I had an appt. with actually called to have me come in early b/c I rarely bring the dogs in unless it's serious so they thought it was likely bad too. We were all happy she's being dramatic and they too were worried about what I was... the vet had a bit of a sigh of relief too just as she was pulling the blood and seeing it not clump or look thin and viewed it under a slide to be sure.
