Billy had to go have his semi-annual heart workup done today along with all 3 getting big thyroid/blood panels done. He's had a tough month -- UTI PLUS a floating bladder from all the water he's drunk for some meds has been a tad difficult for him and his skin has been rough on the back half of "allergy season" but before they change any meds on him we wanted to get this heart workup done.
Well -- he's also had this nipple that's being a problem -- it's likely just a clogged duct BUT it's staying swollen and a bit hard and just NOT "normal" and it's gradually getting worse, along with a couple more. So before any one of them turns *into* a really nasty tumor or something ALL the vets (the regular and two holistic) wanted at least that one removed.
*sigh* But with his IMHA history no one wants to just rush into ANY surgery -- so they wanted to do the EKG **first** and at this point the murmur isn't worse but he's "skipping beats". Some atropine did level it out tho, but they were going to do a second EKG before the surgery JUST in case (along with some bloodwork).
I just got t the call -- it's all a 'go' and Dr. Bailey is probably going to remove all 3 of these problem nipples -- they're all on the same "side" so that may have something to do with it as well. If he finds ANYTHING iffy he's going to send to pathology. oh yeah -- and teeth cleaned while he's under.
I wasn't expecting to do surgery today as I have MY tests this afternoon but I'll race back up there after my tests.
Good thots and prayers pretty please? I really do NOT want to see this heart problem worsen -- he walked away with a high grade 3 murmur after the IMHA drugs ... he's an "old" 11 at this point but dang I don't want to see him deteriorate.
