We took Misty to stay at a lady's house instead of to the kennel since she is so nervous (this did not work out well at all, she was still a nervous wreck) and last night after we got her home, I noticed that her tail looked strange. I actually noticed it when I went to get her, but I thought she was just holding her tail down because she was scared/upset. She usually holds her tail up when she's excited or playful, now it droops downward. She can hold it up, but doesn't hold it that way for long. She is wagging it fine, and doesn't seem particularly bothered if we touch it, but even when she is resting, it's sort of curled inward, which is not her typical position.
***edited to add*** could having a seizure have caused something neurologic to occur, thus the odd positioning of the tail? She had one seizure before, and the lady said that she peed in her house, and it makes me wonder if she had one there because Misty is a dog who never, EVER soils indoors.
Here's her usual "stance"
Here's what it's like now
When I run my fingers along the tail itself, I don't feel anything that feels broken or out of the norm, but she is just holding it oddly. The day before we took her to be boarded, I got her groomed, and her tail was really matted...maybe it's sore from being dematted and trimmed? I just don't know what to think. My husband of course, thinks her tail got shut in the door or something.
She can hold her tail up to go potty, but it seems like it's hard for her to do and then she just releases her hold on it. I guess a trip to the vet is in order on Monday.
