They're labeled different, and you get a different piece of paper. The paper is what is important, so....
I keep proof of rabies in my glove box, just in case.
They are labelled different but ARE the same vaccine -- you might want to check some of Kris Christine's Rabies Challenge Study links -- Dr. Schultz is pretty darned outspoken about that.
IF $54 covers the shot, AND an exam AND the tag/license (some places still do that *sigh* -- they don't here in Florida) then it's not high. Depends on how much an exam is.
If it's a fecal float AND smear that's not terrible -- you catch things on the smear you don't on the float.
Lepto is the shot (or even the one component of the 'combo';) that gives the most serious side effects/problems. I never have given it and wouldn't.
Distemper and parvo -- I get my three titered for it every year. Last year Tink and Luna got the 3 "core" vaccines (distemper, parvo, adenovirus) that are modified live shots -- and they'll now be good for probably 10 years altho I *will* titer ever year.
Rabies you gotta do by State law only most states have now gone to the 3 year shot.
And I, too, keep my dogs records in my car ... just cos that's where I typically wind up needing them.
