    Ceramic blades....

What can you tell me about them?  Pros or cons?

When you drop them, they break. Then, you have to order a new ceramic cutter blade. Then, if your name is Jen, you drop them again, and they break, and you order METAL cutters, and never use ceramic again.

Impressive!  To be able to do that many dogs while breaking blades IS special!!!  :)

Is this different than the whole blade assembly?  Would it be better to just buy the bottom blade maybe?  I'd assume it's probably cheaper.

It's just the skinny, moving part that's ceramic. The "cutter" blade. It is cheaper than buying a new blade, but it's still no fun waiting for parts to arrive. Fortunately, I have half a dozen of each blade, so I do have backups, but... meh.

Oh so many dollars used on fixing ceramic blades. I hear you, Jennie. Although I'm quite happy now because my van has a rubber floor- ("ergonomically friendly" my boss says) so I haven't had a broken blade in a while. (watch, tomorrow I'll break one). they bounce! and i cringe.

But, the plus side of ceramic blades is that they stay cooler longer.

They're supposed to stay sharp longer, too. I wouldn't know.

Of course, I dropped a stainless #30 the other day, and 3 teeth popped off. That happens, though. Short blades break easily.

Yeah, mine have stayed sharper longer.  The ones that survived being dropped.
