hmmm becoming very sensitive to nail trims

Bugsy has hard, fast growing nails.  I have been dremmeling them for several years now, which I absolutely have to do 2 times a week but really 3-4x a week is best.  He has been very cooperative with the dremmel but in the last few months he really doesn't want to do it.  He will cower a bit and try to avoid me/it and eventually lie down and allow it.

His back legs quiver through the process and he pulls his front paws back as I am doing it.

He hasn't been quicked, in fact it would be a dream to get to see the quick.  I am careful not to use too much pressure or to stay on a nail too long, etc.

I'm getting the impression that he just doesn't like it and because we have to do it so often his distaste is building.

Any thoughts on what I can do different?  I use something yummy as a treat when its over. I do a mini-massage to try to relax him but it doesn't work

    thanks in advance

The same exact thing happend with Bailey. He was fine with it, then one day he just decided he didnt like it anymore. He would tolerate it, but he would keep pulling his feet back and twitching his legs the whole time.

I went back to square one and started desensitizing him to it again, like he had never seen it before. Eventually he went back to being OK with it.
Also, giving him something really yummy to lick while Im dremmeling seems to make everything a whole lot easier. I have him lay down right in front of the fridge, and I put a big glob of cream cheese on the bottom of the fridge, so he can lick it off while Im doing his nails. (you may have to reload the cream cheese several times to do all 4 feet Stick out tongue )
