    Yeasty Smelling Itchy Hound Dog

Maska has been dealing with being itchy, and he's starting to lick himself raw.  He's had skin scrapings, biopsies, and now I've elected to have him tested for allergies.  Poor guy is sitting on the couch with his cone on again sucking down benadryl and hoping for something to show up that we can deal with.  I am buying a steamer to use, in addition to just vacuuming, for the couch in case it's dust mite allergy.  He takes probiotics, and I've added fatty acid supplement.  Anyone got any suggestions for other comfort measures till we find out what's going on?

I jumped on the TCVM website and I think you have 11 TCVM vets within 30 miles of you and honestly I'd do that before you do testing.  Most of the testing -- unless you get REALLY lucky and stumble on something unique that you *can* do something about (like a particular thing like feathers or wool or some *thing* you can remove easily from his environment, mostly you're going to get stuff like pollen and oak and stuff that you just can't do a thing about.  But the TCVM will help you *maintain* it FAR more easily without heavy drugs that damage the system.  It will also likely help you figure out -- between his own unique system and where his particular weaknesses are (which traditional medicine won't do) how to deal with it a whole LOT easiler.

But short of calling and interviewing all 11, talk to me before you dive in.  You've only got one who is a completely "certified" acupuncturist (and that's NOT typical certification -- the one who is "certified" according to the Chi INstitute literally is good enough at it to *teach* it -- it means they've gone way way beyond the norm into the realm of specialization -- that's what that little symbol means).

But let me share with you what I've learned about picking one ... should make it easier.  http://www.tcvm.com -- but I've found TCVM works WAY better than anything else because it approaches it so differently.  It could be food allergies but typically they are secondary anyway -- real, yes -- but often it's what's underlying that's really the problem.

A bath (or at least a spray bottle made up) in Selsun Blue - red cap one (yeah, for real) -- don't make it long, but make it good and warm.  And then a final rinse wtih tea tree oil and water (and/or add some lavender essential oil to that -- lavender and tea tree make an incredible pair for yeast & bacterial killing)

How are his ears?  The blue power ear stuff still rocks -- cheap and incredibly helpful for itchy yeasty ears -- particularly during high allergy season.
