    STINKY dog???? H E L P

My cocker spaniel STINKS.. all the time. it dont matter what shampoo i use she still stinks (even skunk off/gone)

it seems to me to be centered around her face/ears.. but vet states NOTHINGS WRONG??? im lost

when i got her this smell was there and her ears were very matted underneath.. i groomed her up but have never found a way to rid her of the smell.. (i even recently shaved her bald) .. smells still here (although not as strong)

ive read online somewhere once about a home treatment i can mix myself for this .. any thoughts on that? or do you know of anything i can mix for this?

Because of those heavy ears, cockers tend to have a lot of ear issues and most often the smell comes out of the ears.  I'd recommend regular ear cleaning with a good product (epiotic is one) to keep those ear canals clean and dry.

i clean her ears everyday im going to get her to the vet i guess

How old is she?  Is the skin broken at all?

What do you feed her?  Often particular foods can make them smell a particular way.

Every day? Is it possible that you're drying her out and causing her to overproduce oil and wax?

What is she eating? What does the smell smell like? Is it sour? Is it yeasty? Damp? Does she smell like dirt? Like sweat?

daily seems a bit much - unless you are actively treating for something...

has she been checked for an infection? both yeast an bacterial carry strong, foul odors - very common in cockers.

food plays a BIG part in the ears/coat...what are you feeding?

Yes, every day does seem too much.  Unless one of my cockers was being treated for something, it was more like once a week for the ears.

The ear canal is dark, add in a bit of moisture and very little air circulation, and oh yeah, those ears infect so danged easily.  If the vet isn't seeing any infection, I'd spring for the culture.  That's pretty important since some broad spectrum antibiotics don't kill EVERY ear bug.

I've often said, of my cockers, if I knew then what I know now....gosh, diet wise it would have been so very much better and I've SEEN great quality foods eliminate all sorts of issues and ears are right at the top of the list.

i have a sharpei & they tend to be stinky too!! i switched her to no grain natural dogfood which helped so much, also w/the ears, a good way to keep them clean is vinegar & water to rinse, 3 prts water to 1 part apple cider vinegar. just soak a cotton ball and squeeze to fill ear canal, let your dog shake and wipe clean, never use swabs. i also added pure salmon oil to her food for skin & coat and put spoonful of yogurt daily to keep yeast problems away. usually w/grain free dog food & the salmon oil, your baby will be better.
