    Limp Tail? Broken or glands?!

I have a pit/am bull x that is about 2 yrs old neutered female and all of a sudden her tail has gone limp doesn't seem to be in major pain a little iffy with me touching or trying to look now. Have asked around a few suggestions have been anal glands but I thought that was a small dog problem and broken, yeah suggestions or ideas would be handy. Photos of before and now can be provided if helps.

I've had a dog who injured her tail near the base and she held it limply for a week.  I did know that she injured it as I was there when it happened.  Anal gland issues can happen to any size dog as far as I know.  My rule of thumb is if I'm worried, I make a trip to the vet unless I'm sure I know what's wrong and that waiting won't hurt.

Anal glands can happen to any size dog, absolutely.  Given that she's touchy about you touching it -- honestly that's your best indicator that it hurts and likely needs to be seen by a vet.  Sorry - not good news I know.

One thing it reminds me off is the typical Labrador "swimmer" or "cold" tail. My Golden got it once (without swimming) just having wagged it to much too hard. If it is that, they look miserable while it is going on but it resolves itself in a few days.

I hope the vet was able to put your mind at rest and that it is nothing dire.

I hope all is OK - Bugsy got 'cold tail' once it looked pathetic but was back to normal in a couple of days

Vet assumes its broken but we decided against xraying it cause diagnosis is would be pretty much the same by the sounds of it. She is on an anti-flam/painkillers seems much better now holds it almost how she used to. If no improvement go back in 5 days highly doubt it think she is well on her way to back to normal. Happy we are!

Bugsy chipped a bone in his tail and he was back swinging it in no time!

Hopefully she is back for you soon!
