they think Akyra has cancer.

I'm so terribly sorry.  I will be keeping you and your sweet girl in my thoughts and prayers. 

 I brought Akyra home tonight. Her prognosis is still not good. the ultrasound confirmed that the cancer is in her spleen, liver, and throughout her lungs. She still tries really hard for me, she looks bad, but she still looks bright eyed. It makes it so difficult.  We've been resting  together, its nice to spend some quiet time with her. They gave her a pain shot before we left. She ate some ham tonight! that made me so happy. you could just tell in her eyes that she was so hungry. I even had my friends BF pick up more lunch meat. She ate one more single piece. 

the dr gave her from 1 day to a week for survival, she said she would be going downhill pretty fast. Its just so hard to believe, two weeks ago we were jogging together, happy & healthy. I never expected something like this to happen. I love her so much, I hope she knows that.

We all "know" our dogs are only with us a relatively short time and it's never enough time. Our heads know but our hearts break.

Yes, she does know you love her and she knows this is as hard on you as it is on her. I have no great words of wisdom only understanding. Helping Jake cross the bridge was one of the most difficult things I've ever done. It truly is a final act of love though. We're all here for you and we'll do whatever we can to help you.

This is the same thing that happened to my Orca.  We had a few great days together, but when she was ready to go I knew and had to help her.  I am so sorry that you will have the same heartbreak.  <<>> to you both, and hopes for a peaceful trip over the Bridge for a good girl with a great mom.

She knows that you love her with all your heart.  I think her trying to eat for you is proof.  This time sucks big time.  There's nothing I can say to ease your pain but know that  there are a ton of people here who have been where you are & will be here to help you, be with you once she crosses.  Please give her some rubbies from me.

I am sitting here with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat.  Memories of Shadows last days are flooding back to me.  She knows you love her, she knows you will help her over the bridge.  Enjoy your last moments and cherish them.   {{{{Hugs}}}} to you both.  I will pray for your strength, we will be here to help you get through this tough time.

I am so very sorry for what is happening to Akyra. My heart and thoughts go out to you. She knows you love her and your love helps her feel secure and cared for during this time. May you and she have as many moments left together as possible.
