URGENT !!!! NEED HELP PLEASE !!!!

 It kinda looks like his whiskers are broken off around that area too.  It might be that he is clawing and chewing the crate while you're gone and he has rubbed his little lips raw doing it.  Is there a way you could come home at lunch and let him out?  That might cut down on his anxiety and resistance to being in the crate.  If he's pooping in the crate while you're gone, it's a sign that it's too long and he can't hold it.  And I've heard that once they get comfortable pooping in their crate, it's a hard habit to break.  If you can't come home at lunch, is there a bathroom that you could gate him into safely and see if his lips and foot seem to heel.  I think that might indicate that it was from the crate.

Not to get personal, but how many times during your work day do YOU visit the bathroom?  And yep, it's a trick question because if you even visit ONE time, as an adult, how do you expect a pup who is still a baby to hold it longer than you can?  A pup this age should be able to wait five hours MAX, but if he's fed before you leave, well, he just isn't going to be able to wait that long.

It looks to me like he is hurting himself trying to escape the crate so he doesn't have to toilet in it.  If you can't do a dog walker for him, or puppy day care, I'd suggest putting his crate inside an exercise pen so that he can leave the crate and potty inside the pen.  Just make a specific potty place for him and he'll most likely use it.

I have to agree. You need to rethink having your pup confined for such a long period. He is just to young. An X pen is a good idea or you could possibly create a safe area in your home like the kitchen area.

I fear someone has told you "crate training" is magic and that a dog shouldn't soil in their crate.  They don't like to -- but if pushed longer than they can physically hold it they will soil, and they will then hate the crate.

The rule of thumb is that baby pups will **with proper training** be able to hold it about one hour per month old they are.  So your pup is quite a way from being physically capable (even with the right kind of "crate training";) to hold it for a full work-day. 

Somehow you need to arrange for someone, somehow to be able to let this little mite out during the day.  It truly is the only way. 

I know you may have 'been told' all you have to do is put the dog in the crate and they'll "hold it".  But that's just plain bad information.  And a dog that has learned to be *this* stressed while crated is going to have a tough time.  At this point just backing up to letting the dog out mid-day ... he may have worked himself into such a dither he'll resist the crate. 

How willingly does he go *in* the crate?  Are you crating at night?  How much does the dog bark and howl when in the crate?

We'll try to help you ... but sometimes it's necessary to re-evaluate whether or not the information you had was right and to try some extreme measures to get things back on the right track again.

I'd also say way too long in that crate, when I first got Bonnie she could only hold it about 2 hours,  she is now 5 months old and still wants out to wee from her crate at night after about 4 and a half hours.  Poor little guy, his mouth looks terribly sore.

Likely has hurt the paw/leg trying to dig out of the crate (which is why he was moving the pan) -- you may want to inspect the nails/toes carefully -- he probably should go to the vet in case he's injured the patella/joint.

I agree with everything everyone has said here. He is in his crate for to long! An X-pen is a good idea, it allows him more room and the same confinement. The redness is from him trying to get out of his crate.

I'd say the same thing---it looks like the poor thing is trying to get out,biting on the wire door. It would be better if you could at least confine her to your kitchen , being that it's such a long time. We almost always take the dogs with, but when we can't,we also leave on the TV or radio when gone, just to add some life to the empty house.

thank you for ur concern and advice.  Andy is doing much better. he is back to his old, wild, hyper self. what i did was bought a gate to close him off to walk around in a space part of the hallway, bathroom and access to his crate. 3 times more room for him than he had then just being in the crate. no more limp and his mouth is going down. i believe it was him doing that trying to get out of the crate, espically if he has to use the bathroom because he is always going on his weewee pad.
