*EW!* So Much Eye Junk! [Update on 03/18]

This past month Kayla has had excessive eye discharge/tears. Huh?

Black, hard, crusty, eye boogers. Ick!

I'm becoming concerned... going to research into it more when I'm home and have time; but I have been so busy with work this whole month that I can't even take a moment at home to sit and read.

Vet opinion? Well I'm currently "in between" Vets at the moment and no need to visit anytime soon other than this problem.

Diet? Well she's sensative and allergic to so many things so I've kept her on Natural Balance ALLERGY products.

Supplement? Wild Salmon Oil (1/2 tsp) with her food once a day.

Health Junkies I need some advice... Tongue Tied

It's the beginning of allergy season in many places and places where it's still cold wind up with mega dust, etc. from the long winter, heating, etc.

Is the eye itself red at all?

I like the Similsan eyedrops very much -- you can get them down here in grocery stores like Publix, but you can also find them in any good health store.  They are homeopathic -- meaning they really don't qualify as 'medicine' -- but are sooooo soothing.  They have one for allergies, one for dry eye, and my particular favorite for anybuddy with red, irritated eyes is the "Pink Eye" formula which is super soothing.

Billy  supposedly has "dry eye" and the eye drops for that are not only mega expensive, but even worse they contain cyclosporine (and trust me, we've had enough of THAT particular drug FOR-EVER!!!!).  He does SO well with the Ssimilisan drops -- I use both the dry eye and the pink eye formulas for both Billy AND I.  The dropper is the BEST dropper of any eye drop I've ever seen.  No screw on cap (RAH!!).  I've spilled more 'dropper' bottles and this one has the dropper attached right to the bottle.  Works GREAT!!

They don't sting either -- not at all.

It's still freezing here. My only guess is dust?? Or overactive tear ducts

Her eyes are still deep dark brown (no red or pink).

It's like a very DARK (black) mucus that hardens like boogers all down her tear ducts & snout.

And she has been a little itchy lately under her snout & on her neck... I saw some dry skin/dander though...

I was so nervious it was another food allergy somehow... but I think it's environmental or something else health related.

So often the environmental allergies are UNDER everything which is kinda why the body has such a hair trigger for anything new -- because it's already in such a high allergy state of alert most of the time.  People tend to treat the food allergies and the other goes un-noticed.

That's exactly what Billy's eyes look like and it ONLY crops up b/c of allergies.

Try the Similisan -- it's the easiest eyedrops ever to give because it doesn't sting.  No bad side effects at all b/c it's a homeopathic.

WELL we went to the Vet (and might I add that Kayla did an amazing job!! so0o0o good!!!! she just sat there wagging her tail the whole time)

The Vet feels she deff has some type of irritation (most likely environmental, dust, her own dander, etc) so they put her on eye drops twice per day for seven days called: Vetropolycin bacitracin-neomycin-polymyxin veterinary ophthaimic ointment?

Now at PETCO I'm in charge of medicating the small animals and for crusty eyes we give the Guinea Pigs a Neo-Poly eye drop solution... hmmm I bought a huge Vet Tech book (that I'm studying) maybe it's listed somewhere...

But I just thought I'd give you all an update for now!!! :o)
