I should explain the photo's .. The first 3 are of her spay stiches. See how big of a cut they had to do? The last one on this page is of her leg after she blew the i.v. line 2 times. Thus was the result when she kept trying to lick it. The skin died and had to be cut and stiched. Couldn't staple it because of the drain and also because it went almost up to where the leg bends at the elbow. I will have to post how well it looks now once I get my camera re-hooked up to the computer.

do you know WHY they had to make the incision so big? my dog had a one inch incision, but he was a male, so that probably influences it too, but still.... that's huge.

Because she had pyrometra from NOT being spayed until it was too late. She is 8 years old and my daughter didn't get around to it..Can't think of any excuse that would of been a good excuse..

She is doing just awesome now...Her tummy and her leg are healed and she is finally putting her foot down to walk instead of walking on her knuckles. I doubt she will get her toe nail back but that is o.k. I still love her..even if I'm just a grammy to her LOL!! Thanks for asking about how she is doing..

WOW!!! graphic but an eye opener
When I was at the vet a couple of  months ago they were spaying a 10 year old English Sheepdog that had never been bred and she had prymetria. Vet told me that dog's uterus was as long as his arm from the tip of his hand to his elbow and just full of pus. He said a normal uterus is the size of an adult male's pinkie finger.
