I have posted the story several times on different threads, but my KayCee had a severe reaction to her 2ed set of annuals 4 years ago last month. No problem with her puppy vax or her frist annuals. My vet is about 99% sure it was the lepto he has it marked on her chart RABIES ONLY. However we had a bad outbreak of distemper here a year ago and the lady behind us fosters dogs and will have up to a dozen, so I got worried and talked it over with me vet and we decided to do distemper only Gave her benadryl before taking her in early in the morning. She was given the injection and kept in ICU all day where they could keep a close eye on her. She had no problem at all (Would be belived I was only charged for the injection, not an office visit nor a day in ICU.) Also, when she got he rabies last year he marked her certificate as good until '08. Our state (Texas) made law a few years ago that rabies was only required every 3 years, but being the brillian people they are, also said each city and county could make their own laws. The city over rides the county, the county over rides the state. Both my little town and my county say every year. However, the counties on either side say every 3 years. anyway, my vet said if anyone gives me any problems about her rabies being good for 3 years, send them to him and he will tell them she is not a candidate for yearly rabies vax---PLUS the l and 3 year vax are the same!
Also he told me a year ago that my then 10 year old golden never needed any more shots except for the law required rabies.
