The Derm Vet I use to use was Dr. Greek... but she is in San Diego. She use to fly back and fourth every other week to  Kansas and CA and stop doing so in Dec.

I know exactly how you feel Cathy..... in fact I research before I ever go to my regular vet. I just feel they don't see the things that Iv seen and they have even said they have learned alot from me... NOW THAT IS SCARY.

Long story very short all my dogs got Giardia a year ago...  they weren't treating the dogs right...it went on and on and on and when you have 5 dogs with Giardia its a living nightmare.... they should have been doing Panacur. I researched for 5 hours one Sunday. When I ran onto Lynda's site the Great Dane Lady and she talks about how you should treat Giardia and I copied it off and gave it to my Vet and said.. WE ARE DOING THIS!!! Well it was gone when we did it that way.

My Derm vet would just look at Alley and say.. Kiddo I think your momma needs to leave you on the side of the road somewhere..."now isn't that lovely" She thought that was funny??? whatever....

When Alley had her TPLO knee surgery she got Ecoli in her incision. We tried every antiobiotic under the sun and NONE with sulfur cause she is allergic. We found 1 and that was my last and only hope... now isn't that scary? Alley rejected that implant and in 3 months she had to have the plate and screws removed once the bone healed.

She is truly a platiumn card baby....

Hum if Sassy was a Scottie I would wonder if they weren't related...LOL

Wow Kim- you've got me beat in the "been thru it all" category.  I've been lucky in comparison, but still it has been an expensive ride.

The derm vet I saw today is really great.  The kind of person you'd want as a friend even if she wasn't your doggie's Dr.  She said they (she and the other derm vet) had discussed options yesterday and it was either going to be another "very expensive" antibiotic or a topical antibiotic.  She leaned more towards the topical and I was in complete agreement.  It's Baytril liquid and I'll apply it twice a day for 10 days and see what happens.  She agreed that the yeast infection in the vulva area actually looks better and like me, was suprised that it's better AFTER stopping the Ketaconazale.  She said she'd seen it happen before though.  I mentioned that I'd used a tea tree oil solution on it recently, and she thought that was good and suggested continuing that.  I also mentioned that I'd continued giving Sassy benadryl thru this elimination diet but was going to stop and she agreed that was a good idea.  So all in all, I felt like we're taking a slower, less aggressive approach, but I'm happy about that.  I was pretty darn happy to get out of there having only spent $31 too [:)]

    31 dollars... thats a bargin!!!!

Im going to start a new post ....

Anyone reading this on this thread have you ever had Frontline burn a dog?

Iv used Frontline Plus forever .. but I put it on my Westie and she is going nuts. She acts like she is having an anxiety attack!!
She is weird like that..if she sees me get Interceptor out or any kind of pill she runs for the hills. The older she gets Im wondering if she just wants that feeling off her back and its making her crazy... but she is running around here like a nut ball and I think she even went a hid.

My other Scottie Max hates it too.... the others are like whatever....I know it has alcohol in it so that may be the sensation that they feel...

    Any thoughts?

could be, altho westies and scotties write their own history on skin issues.

if it's not red or irritated it probably isn't hurting -- it could simply be the typical westie/scottie "I want to control me and my environment and you didn't petition ME to change the rules!!" -- you might try several points of contact -- all over the body rather than in one spot so it doesn't 'run' all over them.  And treats when you give it are a must in that case.

We went outside and played ball to get our minds on something else and do something fun.... Max wouldn't budge and Mattie wanted to roll in the grass... she seemed fine till we came in the house and she started running around just like she was having an anxiety attack. She even came in the bathroom and sat next to the toilet panting like crazy when I was going to the bathroom. So I got there favorite bones out that Mattie goes nuts about...and she wouldn't touch it... she is in the basement hiding under the bed which again she NEVER DOES....

Im going to run it by the vet again tomorrow. Iv gotten it on my fingers before and Iv gotten a numbing feeling but never a burning feeling...

I have no idea what in the world is going on..... Iv used Frontline for 6 years and this is a first for her to react this way.....

Wow ,that's strange Kim. Jessie used to act like Advantage bothered her, but not nearly to the extent that Mattie's doing. I've been using Frontline Plus the last few years, and it doesn't bother her at all. Poor baby, I hope she settles down soon.
Cathy, I hope the topical the vet prescribed works for Sassy. I'm glad her yeast infection is better. Tea tree oil is good stuff.

I looked at her skin and it looks fine.... but she clearly was over the top.... Im going to call the company and talk to them. I was reading the brochure and Im going to ask them what kind of sensation they get when its applied.
You know Mattie gets freaked about alot of stuff.... so Im not sure what in the world is going on.....but this was excessive panting..... and clearly discomfort.I had a friend of mine post on a Westie/Cairn site and a few people replied with bad reactions with their Westies.Im going to switch and use something else on her....The company is closed till monday. I usually try stuff on myself but Im not game to put this on my arm or hand. Iv gotten a bit on my fingers before and its a wierd numb feeling... which I don't like.
