Sorry I am late in seeing this...
I am considering beginning to groom my mom's Wheaten terrier as I will be babysitting her all summer. I found this wonderful book at my local library. It has the best descriptions for grooming dogs that I have ever read. The pictures are wonderful and it even has breeds you wouldn't typically think as needing groomed.
Ultimate dog grooming by Eileen Geeson
I didn't want to turn it back in when it was due, lol!!
I have trimmed a lot of horses and cattle over the years, as well as rabbits. It takes a while to get the feel of using trimmers and what exactly a pair of scissors will do when you cut hair. If you don't mind a few funny hair-do's and are very conscious of safety I think it's a wonderful idea. Just don't forget to know when to throw in the towel and take your cutie to the groomers!
