Keeping Dogs Fresh

The whole Tropiclean line is great! The shampoo's are gentle, rinse easily, and smell SOOOOO good. The Oxymed products have oatmeal to soothe the skin.

I've heard such good things about Tropiclean.  I currently use a puppy shampoo wih conditioners in them.  I had been looking for oatmeal products but the places I usually go were sold out.  I guess dogs get dirtier around this time of year(which is why all the shampoo was sold out)

Laurelin_429, I agree.  Longer haired dogs, that also happen to be white are the hardest to keep clean.  Fortunately for me, my baby does not disagree with the water.  He lets me bathe him and doesn't shake, cry, or try to jump out of the tub. He makes baths so much easier for me.

The tropiclean products are nice, we get the Oatmeal and Tea tree,  Papaya plus smells &  Berry clean.  We use their cologne's to spray on bandana's as well.

I got the oatmeal/tea tree kind and it smells pretty good.

This is our general shampoo at the shop for most of the dogs we do. My boss LOVES it. I like the Berry Clean and the Papaya one.

The Espree shampoo's are very good too.

My most favorite of all is a new one (for me anyway) called Isle of Dogs! It's just the greatest. All of them that I have tried have met my expectations 150%, but it's pretty pricy. We use it on dogs as an add-on service. I do use it on my dogs and on the boss's dogs when I bath them. They make a grooming spray and detangler that is just the BEST!

I just used the Tropiclean shampoo and I love it!  The dogs smell great and it got them really clean!  Even better than shampooing them twice.  They look so white now!  It also lathers up really well, you don't have to use much, and it rinses really easily!  I have a new favorite shampoo!

Their stuff smells so yummy I want to eat it! I have a bottle of their shampoo, right now. I have a thousand dog shampoos. It's one of those things I buy impulsively.

I have Tropiclean Berry Clean, two bottles of Isle of Dogs shampoos, on Isle of Dogs conditioner, one each of Buddy Wash and Buddy Rinse (love these, a lot!), De Flea, Dr. Bronner's, a gallon of Tar-Riffic Itch Relief Shampoo(by Professional Pet Products, it's GREAT stuff for itchies, but it REEKS), a bottle each of lavendar and tea tree oil for rinses, and probably more stuff sitting around the sides of my tub. I don't know how I have room to wash myself, sometimes[;)]

We use the Costco baby wipes on them between baths, they're gentle and don't have an overpowering smell.

I had been using some wipes that my mom gets from her job.  I don't know the name of them but they are very gentle, and help keep them clean and fresh smelling.

"Of course depending on the coat you can't always just let dry and brush out.  A Rottie yes, Newf...no "

why not? we used to own a WHITE dog with a long, thick double coat. She'd go plaster herself good with mud. Worked quite well to just let dry, brush out. And you can't call yourself a groomer until you've tried to clean the mud and stains off a very shaggy large white pony who spent the last two weeks soaking herself in good black mud.

My that was a nasty come back.  I was trying to have fun when I posted a picture of Dilon.
mudpuppy we have horses as well, and yes they will roll and they are brushed out...but, they don't live in the house and sleep in the bed.

My cousin also had a white shaggy pony when we were kids...and yes, they brushed the horses out...but, they also ran a hose over the horses and bathed them as well.  She brushed her muddy pony out many times after rolling....so, she would have more qaulifications to be a groomer than most groomers around here...hmmmm, it's a shame she would make them look like mess.

So, there must be a lot of groomers out there who havent had the chance to brush out a large shaggy pony to finish grooming school...I never knew it was in the criteria of grooming school[:D] lol

So, instead of bathing our Newf when he got muddy you would have let dry and brushed out....????[8|] just to add that where I live we have high humity by the ocean (5 minutes away), plus the mud has a clay base in it up here.   You would have to let the Newf dry for 3 days outside before you even attempted to brush the dog out...it would take that long to dry. Then it's caked through the coat and the brushing not so pleasant.  Trust me, we get many dogs in for grooming that are muddy...and you certainly would NOT be a groomer if you just brushed it out without bathing the dog.  It's much more humane to just bath the dog and get the mud out...plus, a groomer who owns their own shop would not be much of a groomer if they didn't try to clean their dog up properly.

Cleaning shaggy ponies is easy!..it's called a curry comb. If the pony is wet and it's warm out just power wash them with EZ- ALL and a little white lightening.  The dirt just melts right off.   And I am no groomer!  You guys are too funny.

That makes for FUN once a year dogs, doesn't it???

It sure helps, around here, when the dog has a year's worth of crap built in it's coat, and swims every day, never drying. Mmmm, mildew!

I brush Rory twice a day with a bristle brush (she has really short hair), once after our walk and then right before I call her in for the night. It gets most of the exsess dirt off. If she has been playing a lot I will warm a cloth and do her fee and, in between her toes. She dosnt have hardly any hair on her tummy so if she gets dirty under there i warm a cloth and add a couple drops of tea tree oil to loosen up the dirt. It can be toxic if they lick it but for some reason she dosnt bother it. She actualyl loves the warm cloth and a nice rub down!
