Gibson went to the vet

Dyan I think I mentioned before that Bugsy does this occasionally (although not for a long while) - this being the swallowing, grass eating thing, he would have belly rumbling as well.  In his case I gave him GasX and he would be fine.  I never figured out what caused it but he has had very few episodes since starting thyroid meds - go figure.

Honestly I let him eat grass too - he never gets sick from it and it seems to help.  I suppose that isn't too helpful but just thought I would share.

A few years ago he kept urping up water after he drank and the vet gave me tagamet (at some ridiculous price) which stopped the water urping so I keep Zantac on hand but haven't needed it since.

Bugsy has a very hearty gastro-system but has had these issues

Thanks for telling me this about Bugsy. It is very helpful...makes me feel so much better,,,honestly...thank you!   You know....I am on 3 Dane boards...and many of them say the same sort of thing there too.  Many of them give Gas X for it.....I was going along the line of Pepcid and antacids.    It was there that someone also told me to "let them eat the grass..if you don't they are likely to eat something they REALLY shouldn't because they have a need to get something in their tummys...and its better grass than a toy, sock etc. etc.     And after I read that I did let Gibson eat a little.. ( Ollie used to LOVE to eat grass and it DID make him vomit......Bubby also liked to graze on it occasionally and it never made her sick ) but right now the little grass that you can find ( because of snow snow snow ) has a lot of mud in it.  I can't see that being a great idea.  So of course he goes for my house plants and I have seen him have problems with something stuck in his throat once...and after hours he finally coughed up a pointy leaf from one.

I do know that if these spells lasted for any length of time...if there was vomiting or diarrhea,  or if he did it a whole lot ( for me any time is a whole lot because I am a worrier )   I would go further with this.........      I have read a lot about symptoms like this after  luvmyswissy ( gosh...I have to look back because I THINK that is who it was ) told me that Swissys are known for this......and read that they seem to do it more as a younger dog...and seem to outgrow it a bit.     That might even be true with Bugsy.

This just sounds so frustrating for you.  I hope Gibson gets better and you figure out what the problem is.  Sounds like the guessing game sucks!

I'm also going to recommend seeing a TCVM.  What do you have to lose right!  You may be surprised what you'd learn there and you might actually figure out the problem.
