Jewel's news

Jewel says to tell you all that the Chi Institute ROCKS!!! If you ever have the opportunity to go there, do! Tui-na is a form of massage, which had her moaning and groaning, and thumping her leg. One of the students has a Whippet, at home, in Canada, and Jewel adored her. She became a social butterfly, there (wearing her butterfly collar, no less), and really benefitted from the environment, alone. I'm glad we went, and glad especially that it was Jewel. The peaceful, laid back setting was awesome for her.

Try as I might I could NOT finish my reply to you last night -- Tui Na is incredible stuff.  And man, the Chi Institute really IS just this most excellent place.

Did they put her on any herbs?  What all did they examine her for? (and yeah, I know that's a loaded question)

They gave her Dr. Xie's Breast Stasis formula. They felt her pulses (weaker on the right, and wirey, if that means anything to you), looked at her tongue (dry and purple-y, and cracked towards the back). Her breath really smelled awful, but it didn't when we left Big Smile When they were doing the Tui Na, she had sensitive spots on her bladder points. They said she was a water dog, but after interacting with her more, they said she's an aloof metal dog. Also, I've been told not to feed any more chicken. She needs a neutral to cool diet. Beef or turkey. In kibbles? I can't find what I want for her, dang it. At least she doesn't eat much? I do NOT want her on a high fat/ high protein diet. They said it doesn't have to be completely cool, because she is a warmth seeker (they watched her lay in the warmest possible spots, panting and getting too hot, by choice). I have to get Four Paws, Five Directions, because I don't understand half of what I just typed, LOL.

Check Amazon! I got mine, used, for like $15. If you want I'll run you some copies at school (it's free!) and I can mail them to you. I have a really good food chart from Pi's holistic vet, too, that I can photocopy and mail. I would take the time to look through the book tonight but I am up to my earballs in lesson plans and other homework :(

Jennie -- don't worry about "understanding" -- it all just sorta sinks in gradually.  *smile*  I tolja the Chi Institute rocks ... I am SO glad you got her in to a teaching seminar.  (and I seriously think Emma could benefit -- I know she doesn't like needles -- but getting needled there is a whole different ballgame, honestly)

Emma would never tolerate that. She is not a good one for handling, and six peoples' hands on her would send her into a... something. She'd either stress out and have a seizure, or start biting everything. I am going to call the dr in Savannah and get her in there, ASAP. Standing on a picnic table in front of a group of people, surrounded by beautiful horses, dogs, countryside, and being prodded by the entire group? Not her thing. The vet doesn't even bring in a tech, at the regular office, because it overwhelms her. She's special.

    Jewel, though?

"I am the prettiest dog, here. I am prettier than the horses, even. Look at how pretty I can be, I can kiss your face!"

    She was into it!

LOL, Pirate barked at the horses for an ETERNITY.

Jewel went, "Oh, Horses! HI! Let's meditate on this grass." Seriously, that environment was MADE for her, LOL. She stretched out, under one of the big trees, and took a nap, while everybody talked about her.
