Your dog's name...

My Lhasa Poo's name is SANDY. It's actually easy how we came up with her name, we were trying to decide and has alot of names picked out but  nothing seemed right, and our neighbor and dear friend said how about Sandy because her fur was a sand color. And that was it. You always seem to know somethings right when you hear it, and that was it. Of course i call her funny little knicknames...Sandra doodle my little fluffy poodle, LOL Sandy Poo... you get it, the list goes on.

Rascal (R.I.P. 2006) came with his name

Brendy came with the name Cleopatra (her mate at her abusive birth home was Cesar... go figure) but we changed it. When she was in trouble, it was Brendylynn Sue. (I miss you & hope whoever took/found you gave you a good home!!)

Whimpy (son of Brendy and Rascal)  was Joe Boxer, but due to his cowardly ways and constant whining as a puppy his name became Whimpy (pronounced Wimpy.)

Lily was originally Lola, but it didn't fit her personality. Lola sounded too feminine for the rough & tumble puppy who barreled into my legs. ;)

Twix - I'd been waiting for a young, active Keesie to come into Kees rescue but wasn't sure I was ready (still grieving). When told about this scamp, I was torn. I told a friend I was "betwixt and between" about him. Have I ever used that phrase before??! Doubtful! I started thinking of him as Twix because of that and when I did adopt him, the name fit!

Zig Zag - His litter's theme was children's games. My mom thought of Chutes And Ladders to use in his registered name - perfect since I do agility with my dogs. I came up with Zig Zag for his call name becuase of the way the chutes and ladders look on the game board. It's also a pattern that comes up in agility so, just too perfect.

My dogs name is Willow. The thing of it is He's a boy, kind of like "A boy named Sue"you know the Johnny Cash song... . The breeder that we got him from kids were watching the movie Willow and decided to give him that monicker and it stuck. And hey I really like it !....Dog

My dad named Brownie because there is a lot of brown on his face for a Beagle.

I named Cuddles because she just wanted to eat, sleep and cuddle for the first week we had her.

Bailey who I am pet sitting was named because the girls mom loved that name.

My guinea pigs full name is InkBunny because it looks like her ears and paws were dipped in ink while the rest of her is white.

My hamster Oreo was named because he looks like one.

My gecko Cassie was named because we wanted a name that ryhmed with Wolfie.

And my stray cat Sugar was named because the name just stuck.

I'm a music fanatic (I play several instruments, am a music composition major, etc etc) and I wanted both a name that represented my love my music AND a name that was unique.  So I picked "Strauss" for my Shepherd :-)  He's named after the violinist.

I plan on all of my GSDs having the names of composers, modern day music artists, music terms, or instruments.  I will not be naming a dog Jazz or Beethoven for what I think are obvious reasons xD

I'm REALLY looking forward to having a Joplin (Scott, not Janis :-p)

Popper - when I got him he had just been dewormed (he did have worms) and he looked like he was going to Pop, his belly was so round!

Merlin - when we met him, he looked like my brother's golden hamster he had as a kid, which was named Merlin

Roofus - From bill & ted's excellent adventure, but spelled way cooler

Blossom - I don't know. I wanted to call her cookie. Her name was Summer, and Summer Blossom sounded neat

Murphy - the people at my SO's work called her Murphy Brown, and Murphy stuck

Noel- she had the name when we got her

My hubby chose the name "Buster"...he just liked it.

I chose Callie for our other dog because when she was a tiny pup, she reminded me so much of my calico cat I had as a child.

Lex - His full name is Lexington steele, which is an uhmm...lets just say "film" star.

errr... I know who that is, sadly... LOLWink

Tek- his full name is Jason Varitek Bolint, but most times we call him "stinky".. He's named for the catcher of the Boston Red Sox.  At the time of his adoption, the Sox were on the verge of winning the world series, and he's so stocky and well built and athletic it just fit him.

Rosie- came with the name "chichi" from her foster family.  I re-named her Rosie because she's so pink, and also it's my favorite bar back home...

Indie-  was found abandoned on Industrial Blvd, so her name is actually "Industrial" but that's too long.  Usually "Indie-Brat" is what we call her, though...

We had a fish (R.I.P.) named "Carlton"  as in Carlton "Fishke"... ummm we're big Red Sox fans...

Shadow - had his name when we got him from friends and we never saw the need to change it. But my nickname for him is Pretty Boy.

Jade - we plucked her out of a friend's tree. The friend's daughter had named her Chi (don't know why. 6 year old girls have a logic unto themselves.) Anyway, Jade's eyes are green, as in jade green, hence, the name. DW will call her Little One though she is not little anymore.

Chips- He was found on the side of the freeway, hence his name: California Highway Puppy
Gossip was thus named because she was a loud mouth as a puppy
Oliver was the only name that the X and I agreed on
Haydees was named because she truly is "The Devil" (she just got the feminine spelling)
