What do you love most about your dog?

Sioux - I love her gentle, somewhat demure nature, coupled with her incredible sense of duty, and the way she always tries to do the right thing at the right moment.  She is always such a good girl and rises to any occasion.  Once, I took her to a "meeting" and when we walked in to the place, there were over 300 people in a big noisy hall with a squealing microphone.  After a moment of nervousness, she looked at me and did the doggy equivalent of shrugging her shoulders as if to say, ok mom, if you think I can do this, I will.  And she surely did.  Not particularly brave by nature, she is still a warrior of sorts to me - she overcomes!

Maska - I love his melodious voice.  There's nothing quite like a welcome from a really "well spoken" hound!  Plus, he's a great bed pillow on a cold night, and he never minds if you hug, or throw a leg over him.  This is the dog you want in bed on a rainy Sunday in November.

Fergie - I love her spunk and joie de vivre. She is just the happiest little girl in the world.

Sequoyah - I love her intensity, and her incredible brilliance - they don't come much smarter.  She's quick, fun, and affectionate, and I love how she can go from being a total whack job to slamming herself down on the ground in a millisecond when I say "down" - she couldn't be a better advertisement for the biz, though I certainly didn't plan it that way - I just followed the old adage that says..."I asked God for a friend.  He sent me an Australian Shepherd".

I have two rat terriers and I have grown to love their playful, affectionate, interractive personalities.  They're such smart little dogs I swear they know what I'm thinking!

Thor is the dog I always dreamed and he keeps making my dream bigger and better every day.

    • Gold Top Dog

I love how she's coming more and more out of her shell and learning how to play.  I love how she looks at me with those intelligent eyes and cocks her head to the side when I talk to her.  I love how excited she is when I come home.

    Very simply, her unconditional love.

Twister my 9 yo JRT I love that he is so fun and willing to play with any one and any dog at any time and I especially love our cuddly times.

Rex my 2 1/2  yo shephard mix I love his sweet nature, gentleness with everyone and everything and his ability to feel my moods.

Belle my 1 yo Lab mix I love her goofy personality, she makes us laugh EVERY day and when she is finally tired how she comes to us for a cuddle.

I love the fact that EVERY dog I have ever owned is so unique in their own way, it's why I can never imagine life without a dog.

     Hmmm.... Lets see

Crusher - I love the look of pure adoration I get from him.  I love his playful nature and his willingness to work at any moment.  And I'd be lying if I didn't say I love his looks.  He's the most beautiful dog I've ever seen.

Onyx - She is the sweetest dog I have ever met.  I love her kisses, they're so gentle and soft.  I love that she is so much a momma dog despite never being a momma dog, she takes such good care of my children.

Now can we say what we hate?  The fur!  No more Fur!  I'm on a vacuuming strike!

I love the way Riley tilts his head when I talk to him as if he really gets every word I say.  I love the wiggly "bend-in-half" way he gets when I walk in the door.  I could be gone 2 minutes or 2 hours it doesn't make a bit of difference to him.  And, the best of it all is I love his sweetness and gentle kisses when he knows someone is sick or not feeling well.

."I asked God for a friend.  He sent me an Australian Shepherd".

I love that! That is exactly how I describe my relationship with Luna, She's my friend, my partner in crime, my team mate. DH is her person, and I am her friend. It's growing into a really cool relationship and I don't know what I'd do without my Luna.

Rosco is my heart dog. When he eventually crosses the bridge, part of my soul will go with him.

Lexi - Is my devil angel dog. She is sassy and mean to her housemates when she knows she won't get caught (i.e. we are in another room), but is the sweetest girl otherwise. She is faithful to a fault and dear to her people. We call her Lexi girl.

Shadow - Big, fast, strong. Watching him run is awesome to behold, not mention the prismatic effect of his fur in the sun. You see different colors depending on the angle of the light. He's shy and stand-offish until he knows you and then he's a big, goofy gus. He loves treats and loves to work for them. Other times, he's all about the cuddle. At 26 inches tall to the shoulder and long and 65 lbs, he's my lap dog. Fortunately, I'm a big guy and can handle it. When driving in the car, there are times when he will sit with his back slightly to me because it offers the best angle to stroke his fur while driving.

No day is too cold for him and I know I've shared the pic of him eating his meal, snow on his fur, fresh from just running around the yard in a snow storm. He's protective of DW when the neighbor dogs are out in their yard. He places himself between them and her. But he can be sweethearts with a small dog, laying down so that he can meet muzzle to muzzle.

He's taught me so much about dogs. And humans. Since we worked specifically on obedience in public and around other dogs, it is so pleasing to see him down and relax in a store with other dogs walking by and people are amazed.

He lets me nuzzle his face with mine.

His awesome speed, his stunning looks, and his big old heart that just loves us beyond limits. His huge-o-mongous voice. The way he tries to talk with a sub-gutteral. And yes, he's a welcome space heater on a cold night.

And when you're sick, he knows it and he will cuddle and lick the back of your neck to make you feel better.

With Sam, it's his goofy-ness! He makes me smile, even when I'm crying. He's also the best hug-er in the world!

and, Taz.....his puppy kisses...he's still got the tiny, non-drooly puppy kisses! and he likes to like toes and feet when he's sleepy, and then looks at yoou like 'Why are you laughing? Give me your foot back!'

What I love about Memory is how she always knows when something is wrong and understands how I feel. She's a great friend, which is a lot more than I can say about some people I know! Wink

B - However weird it sounds, I love the way she's almost disdainful towards me most of the time, but when it gets down to it, she loves sharing a bed, and will begrudgingly roll over for a belly rub anyway. I love the way she flops down on the driveway in the summer, and those little annoyed-but-tolerant looks she gives Ellie. When she is running laps between two cornfields, I love how I practically need a bullhorn to call her back, but when she hears, she refuses to let her fancy little feet touch the corn and has to follow the edges back to the car.

Ellie - I love how she smiles and dances for us. However annoying it is that she has a reaching distance about three feet longer than you think it is, I'm often amazed at the things she can do without leaving her corner of the kitchen. Some of the more exciting ones include smashing a crockpot and eating all of its contents, knocking over the guppy tank and killing my fish, and snatching a box of dog treats from a shelf at least at least half a dog taller than she is on two feet. I love how she crashes into things on her way inside, and that little "I'm okay!" glance she gives me before taking off again.

Monkey... It's almost like she remembers being in that cage at the shelter and looking up at me when I said to my daughter "What about this one?". I was there with my daughter to help her decide which dog to get, when I saw a very sick and and pitiful little girl outside in a cage, fixin' to be taken over to the "bad" building to be put down.

Happy ending,.... That little girl, Monkey Dog, is now a Floridian and healthier than ever. I LOVE her spirit and _ithcy ways (fill in the blank!). She IS the boss. When she looks at me with those big eyes and that cool underbite of hers, how can I say no??
