Bailey went too soon....

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

Thank you everyone.  My fiance and I are still a little torn up, but we know there was nothing else we could do.  Even so, I am setting up a little surprise for her when she gets home from work tonight.  I got the picture with her and Bailey at the top of the screen printed and put in a nice frame.  I'm also getting her some flowers and a card which I will actually write from Bailey.  I want her to know that Bailey loves us for what we did for her.  It might read something like this....

    Mommy,

    Thank you for the kisses,

Thank you for the belly rubs,

Thank you for sharing your bed,

Thank you for never giving up on me,

    Thank you for the love,

Thank you for setting me free.

I will be in your heart forever.

     Love, Bailey.

How does that sound?  Would she like that?

It's sounds perfect - I think you'll find your gesture heals both of your hearts just a little...

I am so sorry for your loss. This is so sad. You are an angel for taking her and giving her so much love.

I am so sorry to hear about your dog, Bailey.  I know what a heartache it is to put your pup to sleep, but it is for the best.  May he run free and rest in peace with all the other little puppers, and I know my little angel, April will be there to greet him at the bridge.

Bless you both for making that dog's last days so happy, run free Bailey and keep my little Beau cat and my Angel April company.

May we all be as eloquent as you are. I don't often come to this section because it is, after all, heartbreaking.

But it shows us at our best, too. The compassion and love we have for our pets is something to be admired. Hence, the quote in my sig.
