Rainbow Bridge Welcoming Committee (Updated Jan 29/07)

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

I keep coming back to see the welcoming committee growing.  It's really heart warming to see all our loved friends in one shot.

This is Bandyt, he crossed the rainbow bridge in September 2005, he was 16.  Bandyt was my best friend for 10 years, then I had to move and couldn't take him.  My mom said she'd hang on to him until I found an apartment that permitted cats.  Three months later, I called with plans to come take Bandyt with me but was told I wouldn't get him back.  Mom grew attached and he lived out his days with mom.

I was very lucky that I got to see him one last time that summer.  I still cry when I think of him.  Someday, we'll meet again.

Oops!  I forgot to add her bio.

My husband, a young rooky cop in Chgo, picked her up as a bedraggled, neglected pup 17 years ago.  She had honesty, nobility and a huge heart.  She could be a shining example of, not only the dog world but also of humankind.

    Thank again,  this is great!

I would love for Tigger to be part of the picture.  Tigger was my heart kitty.  I got him when I was 5 and he lived for 18 years.  He was such a special friend.  He was an outside kitty for about 10 years before my mom let him move inside.  I could go outside and call his name and wherever he was playing, he would come running as fast as he could.  When it was cold, he would knock on the door or claw at my bedroom window to come in.  When he had to use the potty, he would scratch at the backdoor causing my mom or dad to have to get up to let him out.  After Tigger was gone, I adopted two more kitties trying to find that relationship.  I guess a heart kitty is a heart kitty.  I still miss him.

This is Buck.  He is sorely missed, despite his persistant bad breath... :o)

Sorry about his lack of legs in the pic, it was really hard to get the whole of the boyo into a picture at any given time.

I would  love for Kofi to be part of the picture.   I  got her from a animal shelter.  She was  born in  a puppy mill.  I was volunteer walker.  I saw her and fall in love.  So I adopt her

This is Brynn (aka Beebee).  She was my first kitty.  I needed another heartbeat in my home & I couldn't rationalize a dog.  I adopted her from an ad in the local paper.  I knew I had to give her a home when the lady I was talking to about her said to her boy "Andrew, do not sit on the cat!"  She lived with me for 11 years.  She was the most gentle & sweet girl.

This is Bob.  Bob came from an old neighbor.  Brynn needed a buddy, I thought.  Bob was the talker in the house.  She & I would have full conversations on a daily basis.  We lost her to kidney failure @ the age of 17.  She & Lucy went to the Bridge within a month of eachother.

[align=left]This is such a great idea... warms my heart to think that there might have been a 'welcoming committee' when FeFe crossed over.  Thank you so much for allowing our kids to be on the committee.[align=left] [align=left] [align=left]It was at this very time last year that we found out FeFe was sick. On Oct 10th, we were told she had tumors in both lungs and they wouldn't respond to treatment.  By the vet's estimate, she was supposed to have only few weeks to a few months left with us. God blessed us with almost 6 months of laughs, cuddles and kisses with our little girl. On March 26th, she passed away in my arms while hubby and I were telling her we love her.  Our hearts are still broken over losing her.[align=left] [align=left]Fe is strong willed little fur baby who will probably be the first to teach any newbie where to find the best poop to roll in and how to get it all over, from head to tail.  [:)]  She's got a sweet personality... very loving and affectionate. Loves to run with her tail close to the ground, growling as she goes.  Tell her she is loved and missed very much by her mommy, daddy, sissy Gracie and the rest of our family.   We will see her again one day.....
