Frisby

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I know what a horrible disease this it.  It claimed my 4 year old golden retriever, Hunter, back on Oct. 16, 2003.  I had never heard of it before hsi diagnosis--(it was called AIHA back then and still is sometimes).  We do know his was brought on by a ProHeart6 injection (the 6 month heartworm preventative).

He was diagnosed and put in ICU where he died a week later.  Howver, he never had a chance because his necropsy showed "drug induced necrosis of the liver".  It seems the PH6 wa also killing hsi liver---those were two of the most common "death" reactions to the PH6, and he was unfortunate to have both.

I I have vision problems and can not read a lot, so I have not read much about your precious little one, but I did gather she put up a valliant fight.  RIP and play hard with all the other AIHA victims who are waiting fo r their beloved guardians.

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts for Frisby and me. She's let me know several times she's safely at the Bridge. On my way home (after the non-hurricane), a great blue heron flew right overhead. Then, on the way to take her body to the vet's for cremation, we had the Rainbow from the Bridge with us the whole trip over on the ferry. I had gotten out of the car and was just standing by the side of the ferry deck watching the water, thinking about the Friz. There reflected on the water right next to the side of the boat was a perfect rainbow. And it stayed with us all the way into the harbor where the ferry docks. In 50+ years of taking the ferry, I've never seen a rainbow on the water like that. And, had I stood anywhere else along the side of the ferry, I wouldn't have seen it. My sweet Frisby was letting me know all is OK and she's arrived safely.

I'm not on the forum as much as I used to be, and I don't know many of the newer members and their dogs.  So, I didn't know of Frisby's medical issues.  But from what the others have posted, she'd been struggling with various things.  I hope it brings you great comfort to imagine her feeling strong and healthy again, running with old friends and new ones at the Bridge.  I think it's wonderful that you had the signs from her as you described . . . how fortunate you are to have seen the heron and the rainbow.  Take care.
