Goodbye Miss Corky

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

Oh no Glenda.  (((HUGS)))  Take comfort in knowing that Corky was likely the most spoiled duck around and I'm sure she's bragging to all her new friends now!

Run, swim, and fly free Miss Corky

I totally agree. Corky was one lucky duck, and I bet she knew it. Be free, Corky! Think of the big, big, biiiiiig ponds she must be happily swimming in now :)

Oh, Glenda... I'm so sorry.  That is NOT what I wanted to read this morning.  I'm glad she's with you, though, in the place where you'll be settling.  I regret that my family dog's ashes are buried at our old house in FL.

You're in my thoughts today.  How is your DH taking this?

     (((hugs))) Fly free Corky!

I'm so sorry Glenda. Corky brightened many a day for all of us and I know how special she was to you guys. We're all going to miss that sweet duck.

Todd is not doing well.  He was sitting up here chatting with her when she went into her "flapping frenzy" and it happened.  Her "last words" were a sqawk of surprise I guess.  Or pain, or shock, but a sqawk.  I'm sure that there is a voice in his head telling him he should have stopped her flapping like I did.  If talking her down didn't work, I'd physically stop her.  But she'd do the same thing in the night when no one but DS was up here to hear her, and he sleeps like the dead.  So it could have happened anytime.  Instead, she was chatting with daddy just before it did and she was a happy duck.

It was hard to sit here, on the computer with her crate there, empty.  So, I took it down, cleaned it out and stored it in the tent.  Now the drivers seat looks naked and it hurts either way.

Corky had a good life.  Very short, but good.  She knew how loved she was.  Bleh, bleh, bleh......and my mind knows all of this.  But, dang it, my heart hasn't quite gotten it yet.

I am so shocked to read this. I am very sorry. Fly free Ms. Corky, you were well loved.

    Hugs for you and Todd.

I was talking with DH a few minutes ago.  I said that at the Bridge she's not a special needs duck...he said, but she's not OUR special needs duck now.  Yeah, she always wil be in our hearts.....

I need to stop reading this thread because I'm on the verge of tears over what you guys are feeling Glenda. I'm so sorry.

    • Gold Top Dog

I'm so sorry Glenda, hugs to you and your family.

Fly and swim free pretty Corky.
