Fergie 1989-2010 ***update***

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

I'm sorry too, Anne.  Fergie was an incredible example of a true companion.  Run free, little Fergie.

Anne, I'm so sorry to hear about Fergie's passing.  Your tribute was so touching, and the way she went to her final resting place was as beautiful as any pet or person could hope for.  Not just because she died in a safe, quiet and familiar place (instead of having to endure a stressful trip to the vet), but also because of the lovely way you designed her burial service.

She was obviously very well loved, and her long life is a testament to all the great care you gave her.  And what a nice thing to imagine her racing to Mike to give him the news of his grandbaby's arrival.  It really does give us comfort to imagine our departed loved ones enjoying each other's company until we join them.  It's something I think about often.

My condolences to you, Mike's Dad, and all the furry members of your family . . . I know you'll all miss Fergie, but hopefully her memory will soon be met with only smiles instead of tears.

Just catching up on my emails here - so sweet to see this about Fergie and, well, that would be her nephew coming into the world, wouldn't it?  I hope the newest member of your family is blessed with a long and well-loved life like Fergie.

Thanks, Paige.  I guess it very well would be Fergie's nephew, wouldn't it?  Funny, but when we got to the hospital to see him for the first time, Jeff had put a stuffed dog above his head on the boppy.  Guess we raised him right:-)))

    Run free sweet girl!

Thank you everyone.  I'm sure that my girl is romping around in the green grass, dotted with dandelions, and rolling in mouse guts (are there mouse guts in the spirit land???) as we speak.  Yup, that was her very favorite thing to do - roll in stinkies.  She was definitely *not* a foo foo dog.

Anyone think Fergie couldn't wait to tell her doggy dad that he is a grandpa????

Makes perfect sense to me! I just found your news about Fergie-I'm so sorry she's not with you now, and I can imagine how much you and your family miss her. I think you're right--she had big news for her doggy dad!
