Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

So sorry for such a difficult turn of events and the loss of such a dearly loved and very handsome feline friend.

Wishing you comfort, Kelly and Otto, and peace for your sweet boy, Maxwell.

I am so sorry ottoluv. This hits a very sensitive spot with me, as I also have a cat named Maxwell and he was just diagnosed with kidney disease. This info did complicate a decision on surgery that we are having to make. We are hoping though, that he will last for some time yet, as he hasn't started to show signs of the disease. He was diagnosed due to tests for the surgery. He is going to have to have one of his ear canals removed due to cancer.  I have lost others to kidney disease though and I know, as you do, that there is only so much that we can do to prolong their life. You have made a very tough decision but one that was made out of the great love that you had for your Maxwell. My thoughts are with you.

Thank you everyone for your kind wishes! This has been very difficult for me eventhough I see death on a daily basis, it's different when it's your baby. NC_cockermama that poem is beautiful and thank you for sharing it. Poor Otto is so sad to loose his big brother. It's comforting to think of all the other loved pets at the bridge keeping max company.

I'm glad you found comfort in the poem.  I was almost afraid to post it because I know you are hurting right now and I didn't want to make it worse.  But I also wanted you to remember what you did was selfless and that it shows how much you really loved Maxie.
