Critter Hunting over the Rainbow Bridge

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

I am so sorry, Barb and Rick. I'm so glad you got the time you needed to make the decision to help him over. No more pain, Buddy! Look for my Celeigh--she's the black and white one--she'll love to have a critter huntin' buddy!  (((hugs)))

    Good bye, dear Buddy.

You were so very much loved and will be forever more. They will miss you, remember you, in time laugh  on at some of your antics. You will live in their memory because you were the bestest dog: you kept those Hooligans in line, made sure the property lines were critter-free and enjoyed your daily life in the midst of a great family. Sweet dreams to you and peace to the ones you leave behind.

Oh, Barb, I'm so very sorry.  It's such a hard, but such a loving decision, to make.

    Run free sweet boy.

Thank you everyone.  You all were a great support to me during these last couple of days, AND over the last couple of years as we dealt with his overall health, well being and mobility issues.

He will be greatly missed.  Yesterday was hard for me as every little thing that I did reminded me of him and made me cry.  For example...I walked out to the mail box.  Buddy ALWAYS accompanied me...walking RIGHT at my left side...such the natural heeler.  I always gave him a piece of mail to bring back to the house.  He enjoyed that thoroughly...it was one of his jobs.  He wasnt there yesterday to accompany me or bring back any mail for me.  That one stung.

I am going to try very hard to have better energy today.  I think my extreme sorrow is weighing on Heidi...as she couldn't keep anything down yesterday.  I'm going to start a new thread on that.

You all are wonderful; and even my husband appreciates your support.  He's gotten to the point where he will say...what do your "dog" friends say about it?  This, whenever we are trying to discuss and figure out any little things dog related.

    So, again, thank you!

Barb, I am just seeing this.  I am so sad for you.  ((((HUGS)))) Run free Buddy with strong legs and back that will never hurt again!

I am so sorry that you had to send Buddy on his way. It never is easy to let go of one of our furkids. Even harder IMO if you have to be the "decider" whether or not to let go now or later. I believe that you made the right choice for Buddy and now he is running and playing like the rest of our kids at the Rainbow Bridge.

I dont talk much on here, but Buddy was one of my favorites. I loved coming on and seeing the new updated pics of him resting on the porch while the other pups frolic around. Or reading about how he was loved by everyone. RIP sweet Buddy.

I'm so sorry it's never a easy thing deciding on if it's time to let them go or not. You made the best decision for the both of you and he is great full for the time he had with you and will be waiting for you at the bridge. He is no longer in pain and is able to once again run around like he use to. Run Free Buddy.

((((Barb))))  I'm just seeing this now.  I am so sorry for your loss.  Buddy reminded me a lot of my Max (who likely doesn't have a bit of black lab in him!).  I think it's just that distinguished gentleman look that made me make that connection.

    Run free Buddy!

Rest easy, sweet Buddy.  Love doesn't fade - it glows even brighter over the Bridge.

Thanks so much for the kinds words, everyone.  I brought his ashes home today and he has a place of honor in our living room in a beautiful oak box.  The love we have for him definately will not fade.  Forever and always a place in our hearts...always.
