Goodbye Miss Corky

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Thanks Erin.

So sorry for your loss.  I always loved hearing about her.

     Run free Corky.

Thank you so much.  I'm not crying today, and the memories are starting to come with a smile.

I'm glad you are able to smile some now.  It is always hurts when we loose our precious companions, but I like to think the reason we cry and feel so much pain is because the love and joy we shared with them is so deep,

    Fly free, Miss Corky Sad

Sadly, I have often said the same thing.  Serves me right for opening my heart soooo wide and loving so much.  But I wouldn't miss a single moment of the joy!

I am so sorry to hear about Miss Corky :(  Fly free little duckling!

    • Gold Top Dog

I almost cried today.  I was at the station and spotted the berries I've been bringing home for Miss Corky.  Didn't quite break down, but had to swallow a rather large lump in my throat.

I have those moments every day now - don't know if I like them or not.  For some reason nights are the toughest for me, maybe because there are more things in the routine that remind me of my girl.

    • Gold Top Dog

For me, mornings are the toughest, when I'm first on the computer and expecting a little chat with my duck!

I think that those moments are probably good.  We can't deny our feelings....if we try to shove them down, it makes things worse, long term.

Sorry to hear you have lost your delightful little ducky girl, Glenda.  I know you are missing her conversation and companionship.  Thinking of you...

    Night, night, Miss Corky.

    • Gold Top Dog

Gosh, not only am I terribly late offering my condolences -- but my time on the forum is so sporadic that I'm not familiar with any of Miss Corky's stories.  I've only seen her photo in your signature.  I'm so sorry for your loss Glenda, and my heart goes out to you and your husband.  I've never had the pleasure of getting to know a duck "up close and personal," but I can just imagine what a fun and quirky companion she must've been.  I'm sure there are lots of unique habits and sounds you're missing now.  Your duck angel already had wings before getting to the bridge -- but now she can use them gracefully and without worry of hurting herself.  Fly and swim free, Miss Corky!

thanks to both of you.  Yes, I still miss her terribly, but what keeps me going is knowing that she is whole and healthy now, no bum leg, no neuro problems, and has probably got her pick of laps to snuggle in!
