Run free, sweet girl

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Run free, sweet girl

Stopped for an injured, emaciated pittie this morning on my way to work.  Dumped. Probably thrown from a vehicle and left to die.  Demodectic mange and a possible broken hip.   Her stretched out nipples showed she had been bred many times.   Took her to my Vet and we sent her to the Bridge.  She kissed everyone she saw and received at least a short period of kindness in what was surely a horrible life.  We did check for a chip but I would have passed out in a dead faint if anyone had ever cared enough to have her chipped.  I am so sorry that people can be this cruel.  The only solace is that the people here understand how I can be crying over a dog I only knew for a short time.  I took some pictures of her but they would break your heart.  No dog deserves to die like she would have died.

Oh Jackie, I'm so sorry.  It was so kind of you to stop & helped her cross over the bridge in an easy, peaceful manner.  (((Hugs)))

I am convinced that there is a special place in hell reserved for people who abuse, & dump their animals.

Oh Jackie, thank you for what you did for her.  And an angel whispered over her shoulder "Hang on Honey ... a lady is going to stop for you ... a kind lady, and you *will* know love before you leave this Earth ... and you WILL be remembered, girl!!"

Yes, I'm crying too -- there was a big-footed English cocker and a little not-much-more-than-a-puppy springer mix waiting for her at the foot of the Bridge among the others.  Both of them telling her how awesome it is to be remembered and mourned and loved even if for just a tiny moment in time.  Polly will teach her to run with a body now whole, and Muffin the Intrepid will teach her the marvels of lying in cool grass that doesn't hurt your body and face nor make you itch and hurt.

And Jackie -- you know when a rescuer goes over The Bridge we have a huge crowd awaiting us.  It's a wonderful thing the love that awaits.  It was a sad thing but a very good thing you did this morning.

Oh Jackie.  Thank you for helping this girl.  I am glad she had you, if only for a brief moment in time.  ((((Hugs))))

Run free sweet doggie, run free.  There's no more pain now.

Jackie what a wonderful thing you have done today!  I sit at my desk with tears in my eyes, at least this poor girl knew peace at the end of her life in this world.  She will have Shadow the amazing Rottie waiting with a ball or frisbee to toss so she can enjoy the pleasure of just being free!

Thank you all for your kind words and for understanding.

Jackie, you are an angel.  I have tears in my eyes as I sit here thinking about that poor Pibble.  Thank you so much for caring enough for her.  Run free, sweet girl.  I'm so sorry that you had a hard life.  Run free now & be happy & have a full belly.

    Amen.

Jackie, you really are an angel.  I know it was very hard for you to do, but please rest assured that the poor girl not only knew peace at the end of her life, probably for the first time ever, but she also knew what it felt like to be loved.  She is now happy and pain-free at the bridge playing with so many of our sweet ones.

    Run free, sweet girl.

I know you will understand how I mean this when I say, I am not an angel.  I am just like everyone who cares about animals and does the decent thing.  It's not a great act, it's just basic human kindness to the creatures we are responsible for.  All of you who have replied and been so kind would have done the same thing because you care.

I will never comprehend a person who can do something like this, never.  May they get their due someday.

JACKIE! Maybe she's with 'my' pibble pup, the one I was talking with you about the other day - I can only hope. Hopefully they are together at the Bridge playing and chewing and laying in the sun.

Jackie, you may not be an angel, for that one dog, you were an angel.

Very well said Amanda - and the others too.

Jackie you are really wonderful for stopping and caring and making sure the right thing was done.  I agree with the others that people that mistreat animals (and humans) find a worse ending then the rest of us. And people like you have a special place waiting, reserved for those with kindness and willingness to do the right thing.

Thank you for taking care of her and giving her some love - you were definitely HER angel!

Isn't it strange how life works? Jackie, it's totally sucky that you had to find her like that, but I think it was fate that you'd help her to the Bridge so she'd know to find him.
