Run Free Bubba

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Run Free Bubba

    10.5 years ago I met Bubba.  We had just moved into this house.  A new neighbor knew we had one cat & was wondering if we had another kitten that got out & was roaming the neighborhood.  No we didn't but I'd go look @ the kitten anyway.  Big mistake as anyone knows that kittens & puppies have this power over levelheaded people.  Bubba used his powers on me.  I took this little flullball home in order to foster him.  RIGHT.  As I watched him watching Bob & Lucy & I could see him taking it all in.  It was as if he was thinking "hmmmm, how do I fit in here?"  He figured it out & has been a perfect fit in my pack ever since.

    We've been treating his bad kidneys for 5+ years.  It's now time for him to be free of his pain.  What we're doing now is not working & I can't put him through any more.

    Run free Bubbalicious.  May you find the sunniest spots & LOTS of friendly kitties to play with.

    Peace

    I'm so sorry Annie.  I know your heart must be breaking but Bubba wouldn't want you to cry.  He's giving you a headbutt and telling you he's fine now.  {{{Hugs}}}

    Run free Bubba - I'm sure you are playing with Bob now!

    Thank you everyone for the kind words.  Yes, I miss Bubba but it's really strange.  I'm kind of happy that he's out of his pain.  I just know that he was hurting & the way his kidneys were there was only prolonging a miserable life.  I love him too much to let him suffer like that.

    I can picture him just romping in a sunny field (with no ticks or fleas).  His tail will not be just held high & straight up.  That just for ordinary kitties.  When Bubba was happy he would hold his tail flat out along his back.

    Annie, I am so sorry for your loss.  ((hugs))

    Run free Bubba...you were well-loved.

    Annie, I'm so sorry to hear about Bubba.  He was a lucky boy to have "found" his home with you.  I'm sure he got more TLC and extra help for his kidney condition than he would have received in many other households.  He was obviously very loved, and he's watching over you now, feeling strong and healthy again.  Take care.

     Bubba, have a great eternity!  And, I know that you have already made friends with a few of my well loved barn cats.  Don't worry about the black and white little dog that hangs around with them.  That's Dancer, and she likes cats - a lot.

    Hugs to you, Annie.  I know that he's doing fine.  But, it is always hardest for those left behind...
